I'll be following this thread; curious to see how the repair goes and what you decide to do.

From reading your posts, I feel like I've been there before, telling myself that (my next purchase) is some type of rare opportunity, making a big dilemma out of what should be an easy simple car purchase. I've been guilty of rationalizing that I just can't pass on the opportunity, whether it be a rare car, great numbers, do it now before something happens to my trade-in, blah blah blah.

No matter how rare this car is and what the price increase is, this is no longer a great opportunity. The car has been (in my opinion) severely damaged, damaged enough to make it an easy pass

Sucks to see. Sounds like you have folks at the dealer that are in your corner and will get it taken care of. Agree with others, so long as everything is replaced that needs to be, youā€™ll never notice. If a cooler is damaged, it will get replaced.

As for the CarFax, 1)someone would have to actually report it; 2) Iā€™m not sure you can even report it on a car thatā€™s never been titled. It likely wonā€™t show on an Oasis either, but that will depend on how the dealer inputs the repairs I would think. Go over to 6G, there are plenty of examples of things like this happening over the years, thereā€™s probably several that have stated if it ended up on an Oasis or not.

Good luck, hopefully they get it all back together and better than new for you. Donā€™t take delivery until youā€™re satisfied that everything is the way it should be though. Youā€™ll only get one crack at it, once you take it itā€™s yours and your problem if one arises.

Beautiful color, if I do say so myself šŸ˜Ž

Yep +1 for a bot, looks like it's programmed to only key in on the written content of the first post, not pictures or thread titles, and obviously is unable to detect sarcasm. Lol

I would wait and see the fix. Many dealers have very good techs that have many years experience. One dealer near me had a painter that had 28 years and was super. He painted my scoops(dealar add on) on my 2011 and was a perfect match. In the end it is you that must decide if the job is up to your expectation. If your car had a problem on the line(like paint issues) you would not even know it. I'm wishing you the best of luck.

I believe youā€™re correct about the carfax, but I _think_ Oasis would show the repair. I got a history from my dealer back in late ā€™01 or early ā€™02 and it had some kind of body work done. Well before I bought her and I was the original owner.

As of last night it still sits in the service area at the dealership.. waiting... Temperatures getting colder... Anybody have experience with those pirelli p zeros in cold temperature? Their detail specifies no warranty coverage below 45Ā°. Anybody had any problems or has everybody actually followed the 45Ā° requirement?

how soon do you think you are going to get this car IF you decide to keep it?

Figure 2 weeks to get it torn down and the trucking companies appraiser out there

Brand new production so parts are not being set aside for collision repair, they are all going to production.

get used to hearing "code 99" which is Ford parts speak for the part is made out of unobtanium.

As for the tires, I thought you were buddies with the salesman, if so the car should be stored inside and covered.

I wouldnā€™t take it. Even if the car fax is clean lots of dealers are trained to recognize paint work ā€¦ā€¦ tons of Dark Horses for sale nation wide. Have them order you a new one at a discount and keep looking at dealer inventoriesā€¦

You guys are right. There are a fair amount of dark horses for sale across the country. But this one was ordered by me for me. First time I've ever really done something just for myself. So there's something special there. And there's not another one just like it I could go pick up in the country. Let the thread die, and I will report back if and when they ever have the car repaired. I'm holding the invoice and there's not a lot of Mark up there. So I do feel like the dealership is at least trying. I'm going to give em a shot and see how it feels when I see it again. Reordering is not an option given the price of the 2025, even at a discount I feel like it's stupid money. And then I hold in limbo for another year to see if a car might get built. Thanks for the positive support to all those who have given it. And I will report back if and when the car is finished.

I would not use the word IF here if thatā€™s any consolation to you. They will fix it, they want to sell it whether itā€™s to you or someone else. Only reason they wouldnā€™t is if itā€™s so bad that it goes back to Ford (doesnā€™t seem likely here).

So I would say take some comfort that it will get fixed. It will just be up to you if itā€™s fixed to your satisfaction or if youā€™re willing to let it go because it was previously damaged. As I and others said, it should be fixed as good if not better than new, the dealer will want to get it right in order to sell it.

I totally get what you mean when you say you ordered it for you and only you, thatā€™s how my 2022 is and my 2025 GT/CS that I have ordered is. Itā€™s special to us. If itā€™s something you really want, I think itā€™s worth seeing how it plays out and what the car looks like when itā€™s done being repaired. Hoping for the best for you. And great color choice by the way. Grabber Blue is absolutely stunning

Pulled the trigger at protected ORIGINAL invoice price. Body shop did a great job. Nubbies still on the tires. put 2 miles on it loading on and off flatbed and around the body shop at another dealer in the owners network. New sales manager did admit it would likely be visible on Carfax but unsure. Nothing yet... The delivery driver put two small burn marks in the fresh painted bumper about 2" wide from the straps but I'll try to rub those out before ceramic. Not very noticeable. Just glad to have it out of jail. Now if I could get some better weather...
