But a V8 is more fun! 😉😂
Before I moved back to Phoenix I lived in Anaheim. Once a year I would return to Phoenix for Christmas with my family. I made the trip many times and it was 375 miles from driveway to driveway. With the 96 mustang I could do it in 6 hours with one tank of fuel (12.5 gallons). Granted before they ended the double nickel it took 8 hours but that wasn't my fault.
Electric might make a great around town car if you're not worried about a battery fire burning your house down but even with plenty of chargers, they aren't much of a road car.

Agreed. Besides, I just checked, the CobraJet (V8) can still post faster 1/4 mile times (the only acceleration time that matters really). They didn't specify which V8...

I'll check again after Tesla wins LeMans. The day a sewing machine "beats" a V8 will be a sad sad day.

Motortrend is just guessing here. The only reliable source to Camaro stuff in MC&T. They were right with Camaro getting shelved, Camaro MY2024 last collectors edition, cancelled Gen 6 Z/28, etc. Here's what they say about a future EV Camaro:
What’s actually happening: there have been proposals for an electric Chevrolet Camaro coupe. But GM has yet to green light such a project, putting the potential re-emergence of the marque towards the end of the decade, at the very least.
Source

So we won't see a MY2026 Camaro. If that would be in development there would be reliable buzz about that and even first prototypes on the road. No carmaker has yet an electric platform ready for an affordable sportscar/coupe. Next Porsche Cayman/Boxster as EV will be first ones to try. It's very easy to acknowledge that an EV Camaro 7 will be at least 4-5 years away to be able to get into the right price range.
Also it's pretty much a good call to wait how Charger EV vs Mustang 7 will go before nailing down the next Camaro. The C8 is still hot, they are not in a rush to have the currently bad selling Camaro out again.
What’s the possible capability on a late decision to re-badge an already under development EV suv into “Camaro”?

Another L for the Camaros. The current Mach E looks better than that. By the time this is released. The Gen 2 Mach E will be out with a coupe and SUV variant.
Gen 2 Mach E Variants possible 2026 release

No, they won't pull the Mach-E thing especially since the real Camaro isn't selling at all, so rebadging something else into Camaro doesn't make sense. They have the Blazer EV SS, and it seems like Corvette will get an EV derivative

While people are buying electric and Trump says “Drill, baby, drill”! We’ll be getting some gas back! Why electric?? Will electric companies be stressed out if all cars are electric? Go figure!

Not one to shy away from a pun when one fits...

EV stands for electric vehicle. It also stand for Eventual Vanquishing.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone here know if the fifth gen Camaro had better, worse, or about the same outward visibility compared to the sixth gen?

The 6th gen is technically slightly worse, but they're both god-awful.

One of my amateur radio friends, has one from 4 years ago. I could see out of it, sitting in the front passenger seat!

That thing looks nasty. The Camaro isn't an SUV any more than the Mach E is a Mustang.

But the Camaro looks worse: It doesn't make for a good pony car and doesn't make for a good SUV. It looks like the epitome of compromise rather than focused. No thanks.

But one good thing can be read from this -- the actual Camaro is likely to make a comeback. There is no way Chevy launches this crap without the real deal coming alongside.

Still, the fact that they are doing this is a joke. Between the Mach E, talk of some door factory car with the Mustang badge, killing off the Hemi V8 Challenger and Charger, and whatever Jaguar thinks they are doing, it looks like the enthusiast auto industry is being taken over by incompetent children who've never dealt with anything serious in their lives. Sad, sad day.

With some fear of reprisal...

All of this reminds me of the 1972 book, The Joy of Sex, by Alex Comfort. There was a whole lot of negative comments when it was first published, but it sold like hotcakes! Interestingly enough, it spawned a myriad of me-too books, none of which were even close in popularity or content.

About the same scenario can be said about the Mustang, from Ford. It was indeed the first pony car, which spawned the name we use today! The me-too copycats jumped out of the design rooms of the competition so fast, the real essence, The Joy of Driving, was left on the floor as eraser leavings!

The bottom line? Just look who's left!?

I like Mr. Toyoda's perspective. Silent majority isn't sold on EV, and many around the world aren't even ready for EV's. I don't think the US power grid could sustain it if we all drove EV's. Still so many drawbacks...hope hydrogen wins.

it can't only way to even remotely deliver that much power would be to go nuclear and add, upgrade or improve current systems in something nearing the multiple trillions of dollars. EV have been tried since the dawn of the automobile and failed every time for the same reasons it isn't feasible now. Same problems different century.
