I was lucky enough to afford to buy K&N air intakes. Did I spend too much, I did. I can't tell you if they perform or not, but the looks are amazing compared to the original intakes.

There is even an increase or decrease when you don't change anything.

I looked into removing the carbon traps and concluded that because it's an EPA thing it would void the warranty.

There can be a noticeable dyno difference between just running when it's cold outside vs. hot outside, or running with regular unleaded gas vs. 93 octane with octane booster. Would be pretty easy to manipulate the numbers by doing little things like that to make the case for something else. Correlation is not causation.

I spoke to Ford performance personally. My concern "half shafts"
The tech gave me some good info.
1st: he looked up part #'s for DH,GT for half shafts. They are the same even with hp option. GT350 half shaft different #'s. While I had him on the phone I asked about headers being installed. His reply it will void your Is warranty.
So I ordered from Ford 2,000 hp half shafts. They fit fine. I have the Whipple SC. Runs great, and even with drag radials I don't have an axle problem. Call Ford customer service they'll put you through to the Ford Performance guys if you ask them.
My opinion don't listen to the dealership, because the one I ordered mine from even told me 20's voids warranty. Most of them have no clue.
As of now I'm waiting for Spring.
