Close, but not quite. In 1969, Chevy made 3 427's. 390, 425 and 435 HP. The 435 had solid lifters and 3 2 barrel carbs. The other 2 had 4 barrel carbs.
Correction: There were 118 aluminun head 427's (L88) built in 1969, but they were very rare. The option was very expensive and most were used only as race cars. I think if you had one of those you would have known it. They were rated at 430 HP.

100% correct. But not a “429”, ever. And the only BBC to ever be rated at 430 hp by Chevrolet was the famous L88, which of course was never factory installed in any Impala.

Having been not only an enthusiast in those days but also an actual dealer, facts matter to me. Maybe it’s not unfair to say I’m overprotective of the facts.

Mine had a 4 barrel Rochester Quadrajet. My manual listed only two 427s. Their was also a 427 for a special 1963 Impala SS option. Very rare engine. I believe it was only available in that year. Also based on the 348/409.

I wish I had the engine numbers so I could find out. The old car is long gone. Something I wish I never sold.

Umm no, not unless your name was Smokey Yunick.

I enjoy a trip down memory lane much as the next guy but you gotta watch out for the potholes.

actually, google says there were a few 1963 Impala SS cars with the first 427 engines. The RPO wasn't until I think 66?

But the 63 427 was on the W block. I think the first regular Chevy big block was 65 in a 396 Impala SS. I was going to buy one, but five guys couldn't get it started, and the guys father wanted too much. Back then a factory fresh 350 was $1200. I believe the W block, or whatever it was called, production ended in 64 with the 409.

I've not seen on of those 65s in years. When I was 17 my girlfriend had one, but with a 327. Those are the same type rims that came on my 69. I put Cragar SS on it. They were the staple here.

that car is awesome. I love the rally wheels. I had a 68 GTO with American Torque Thrusts. The Cragar SS was popular here as well. Not a bad choice among em.

427 is a big block Chevy. The predecessor of the 454. I believe the last year it was manufactured is 1970 maybe. 430 is the HP, not c.i., the marketers at Chevrolet stated the model I had made. There's probably many engines from Chevy people have not heard of.
The Chevy 429 CI. & the 430 CI may miss a misunderstanding.
We all know Ford made the 429 Boss Mustang.
I also believe the 430 CI was in the Lincoln Continental.
My Father in Law had a Lincoln Continental with the 430?
The Gas Gauge & the Clock would move at the same time.
Sorry to steal the thread.
We Love our Mustangs.
It is amazing the 5.0 gains more Horse Power than the 60’s Big Blocks

Yep. That's why a few in my family recently equipped our fleet of 5.0. we need the type of power to extract ourselves out of bad situations commuting to and from work. And not to forget fun on back roads and freeways. We're a family of 50s with 5.Os. but I do miss the sound of a high performance Chevy 327 with Holley double pumper and glass packs. But that's well in the past. I go to pick up a 24 GT for little wifey in a few days in vapor and blue ten speed. Mustang is my new love.

Vapor Blue is an Outstanding Color for sure.
You won’t be disappointed with the 10-Speed.
I agree.
I love the Sound of the Holly 4-Barrel or the 3-Duces.
Were showing are Age.
