The challenger is a more comfortable ride, no question, owned a 2021 scat pack wide body for 2 years. more torque, arguably more fun to drive, because it pushes to its edge alot slower than the mustang does. Now the 392 wide body is a completely different experience from a regular challenger or a hell cat. It was a great car and alot of fun. The mustang is more of a drivers car, it really needs a more talented driver to be able to push it than the challenger does. if you want a lazy car with a sweet sounding engine and is super comfy go with a challenger. If you want a drivers car that is alot faster and more aggresive then get the mustang. my .02
Fair assessment. My last V8 Challenger handled better than any Mustang I've owned. The steering was also lighter and more linear. Ride quality was better. More leg room. Just a much much better driver. The Challenger "feels" lighter, simply due to suspension, steering, and dynamics.

The Mustang is more "raw" and it's a little faster.

Just depends on what a guy wants.

I have alot of suspension mods done to my mustang so it handles like a go cart, lol But agreed the challenger was so much easier and enjoyable to drive. It was a great car.

The Challenger is a classic muscle car, big body and all, but the rear visibility, and that of the Camaro are problematic; visibility is a nice thing to have. I loved my 2010 R/T, but I love my '24 GT more; it's a sleeker look, a more solid handler in wind and rain, a sweet but not so muscle car interior with the screens, and the rear diff doesn't whine. I will say however, that the Chally did not have the rattles my Mustang has, so there's that.

Okay. So let me get this right.

EcoBoost owner (maybe 100lb difference): OMG this handles so much better than a GT! So light!

Scat Pack Widebody owner (500lbs heavier) : OMG this handles so much better than a GT!

I've owned a Challenger and Charger Scat Pack, and now a S650 GT with PP1. Anyone saying a Challenger handles better than a 2018+ S550 GT is full of it. The Challenger definitely handles better than anyone gives it credit for, but the Charger handled even better and both are a big step down from a Mustang GT with PP1.

Yep, you basically got it. Except, mine wasn't a widebody. I had a standard body Hemi car. And it handled, rode, and steered lightyears ahead of the Mustang. It also had a usable trunk, usable back seat, and my knees didn't hit the steering wheel. Great car. I bet the widebody is like being on rails.

Sadly they are very expensive on the used market and I refuse to pay the ridiculous new prices on these 2 door cars today. So I've gone back to Mustangs.

For me, I like Mustang because I previously had Cobra 2003 and had a ball with it and which is the reason I had drooled over the Dark Horse and bought it! Regarding your question, really I like all hotrods in Plymouths, Fords, Chevys and Dodges! I like em all hotrods! Ideally your choices is all yours! Have fun making decisions!! Make your decisions carefully!! Lol!

These Chrysler offerings may become collectible in the near future as Stellantis is enroute to kill them all off. They no longer want to purchase carbon credits so they say, which will mean the end of any of their performance vehicles. This may also mean a worthwhile investment?

I had a 2021 Challenger Scat Pack Widebody. It handled quite well. It was a heavy car and you could start to feel it if you were slinging it back and forth. But dive in and out was pretty darn good. I put on the Magnaflow x-Mod and it sounded fantastic.

2021 R/T Scat Pack Widebody 392 with Magnaflow Xmod - Muffler Delete (youtube.com)
It did not have a "muffler delete" it was the open pack mufflers the kit comes with.

My 2023 ZL1 was a freaking monster in the handling department though. Good luck keeping up with it in the twisties.

If I was going coupe it would be a Scat Pack Widebody. But I wanted a convertible so Mustang it is.

I have zero brand loyalty.

Traded my '21 Scat Pack Challenger and the driving experience is substantially different to me. Much more of a sports car feeling driving the Mustang.

I've owned both. The challenger is a tad more comfortable but the s650 isn't far behind. The thing you really need to think about is theft. Owning a challenger increases your car getting stolen big time. The reason why I sold my Dodge's is that security is a headache. It just isn't worth it.

This is true. I live in a very safe area but my insurance went down when I traded my Challenger for my Mustang.

Something I've thought about: WHY are the Dodge cars stolen so much more often? Is it because they are just so much more popular? And if that's the case, WHY are they so much more popular? I think it goes full circle here...we've enumerated many reasons why the Dodge cars are nicer in this thread. The fact that they are the ones thieves are looking for kind of proves those points.

If you've got a low mileage Scat Pack or Hellkitten, keep it in the garage and wrap it in bubble wrap because the values on them will likely go through the roof in a few more years. I don't think the 2025 Charger is going to sell well at all.

I arrived too late to the party where I test drove a Scat Pack Charger after they stopped making them. I really liked it for what it is and for a while considered getting one. But after my emotions cooled off I realized getting a vehicle that's more likely to get stolen than others wasn't worth losing sleep over. I do also wonder though, why does the Charger get stolen more than the Camaro and Mustang despite having the disadvantage at handling and tech?

I'll do a comparison between the two since I just traded in my GT for a Hellcat.

  • Speed: The Hellcat is simply way faster than a GT or Dark Horse. More comparable to a GT500.
  • Handling: The GT will run circles around the Hellcat, or any Challenger for that matter. No need to even mention the Dark Horse here. My GT PP1 definitely felt way more nimble in corners. The Hellcat handles better than people think, but it's still no match for a Mustang.
  • Comfort: Hellcat. Bigger interior, comfier seats (Laguna Leather), suspension is much more cushiony than the GT. The Challenger is definitely the better daily of the two.
  • Interior: I prefer the Hellcat because I hate the screens in the '24 GT and like that the Challenger still has analog gauges, but the reality is the GT has better tech and is more modern inside.
  • Reliability: The Challenger and Charger are both very reliable because the platform hasn't changed since 2015 and Dodge has worked out the kinks by now. They regularly appear in the top of reliability reports despite most other FCA vehicles being meh. Amazing transmissions, bulletproof engines, only odd things you have to worry about with them is the occasional electrical gremlin. The Mustang is a Mustang. The 5.0 is uber reliable and I aside from the cars getting rattly there doesn't seem to be any major issues with them aside from electrical gremlins on the new infotainment system.
