Alright guys, it's official. My Chefchaouen GT arrived all the way from Vancouver Island to the Caribbean.

The car went from Vancouver Island, 6000km inside an enclosed truck to Halifax.
From there it went on a ship all the way to West Palm Beach, San Juan, St. Thomas and finally dropped the container on the island where I temporary work & live.

The cargo workers asked me if I want to get in the car and drive it out the container.
I climbed through the window and got in.

The car came with a dead battery, just like I had imagined. Jump started the car and drove off straight to inspection.

Inspection was easier than I thought. Because the car was brand new he just looked at it and didn't had to go through all that hassle.

Paid my roadtax, got my plates and put her back in the garage. It's so strange to see my old and new car together. My old car is a diesel beater that I own more than 13 years and had zero issues. And still use it to get around the island.

When I go back to Europe I'll sell my Volkswagen and pay the shipping transportation for the Mustang with that money 🤣

Tomorrow I'm planning to get some fuel, because the car came with an empty tank due to shipping regulations. And after that I'll drive it for an hour or so to top up the battery charge. I had it idling for 15 minutes today but I don't think that is enough or even charge the battery on modern cars. Hopefully the car starts tomorrow.

Tomorrow I'm also going to cover the inner wheel holes with the DIYvan and try the Screenprotech that I received 2 weeks ago. I bought 2, in case If I screw up the first one, I'm going to let a window tinter put up the second one.

Coming wednesday I'll bring the car to undercoat it against rust. This island has some crazy weather with a lot of salt in the air.

I idled the car for some time while I got the message that it was updating.
It says on the screen that my software is 6.2.0

Coming wednesday I have an appointment to undercoat the vehicle. I will let the workers know about the inner fender hole so that they remove the rocks or sand and can spray inside there as well. After that I'm going to block the inner fender hole with the DIYVAN covers.

I wanted to do the covers today and decided to wait after the undercoating.

Are you a gymnast and/or contortionist? I want to see a video of you getting out of the Mustang, with Recaro seats so close to that concrete wall.

Great looking Mustang !

I put the seat all the way back and I step out. It's not very easy but very doable.

Here is a video of how I entered the car when it was inside the container

Mad respect !

in my old house, previous owner built a small garage for his Porsche boxster, complete with foam on the walls where the doors opened. We were going on vacation and I wanted to park my 2001 Lightning in the garage. I took some measurement and determined it would fit if I folded the mirrors in, but it would be tight.

It was. I had to contort like this to get the truck back out. I did this 2x and that was enough, from then on I housed only the motorcycles in that ‘garage’

It also keeps you flexible 🤣
Too much comfort makes you lazy.
The Recaro's are very comfortable though.
I heard many people complaining about it but I have nothing wrong to say about these seats. Even on longer drives.

Today I was stressing a bit. I was driving 50km/h and I pressed the gas pedal and no response. I drove 2 minutes without any respons but it kept the speed of 50km/h

Then I saw that my cruise control was set on 50km/h. I guess I pressed the cruise control button without knowing it.
When I removed my cruise control, the car reacted as soon as I pressed the gas pedal.

But still I feel like something might be wrong. Why did the car deny my gas pedal response when cruise control was activated?

That’s a head scratcher. I’ve never had cruise on at that low a speed, but, even if you are “too close” the throttle will override the cruise setting.

Just how ... deliberate... were you with the throttle?
https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/a-couple-cruise-control-questions.160658/
Strange. The throttle didn't override. Only when pushing it all the way, but that's crazy.
It was on very low speed. I don't know and gonna keep an eye on it. Don't want to try it again. Chatgpt told me it was normal behaviour for ACC.

Update: It was the speed limit assist.

Today I brought my car to the Toyota dealer, because there are no Ford dealers where I live for the undercoating treatment.

My car was the center of the attention at that dealership, all workers came around the car and started to take pictures.

At the dealership they adviced me to also do the rust protection, because the black undercoating what I planned to do was more for damping the sound of rocks hitting the undercarriage and protecting the undercarriage from rock damage.

They said the rust protection is a different treatment where they do many more locations on the body to protect it from rust. It's some kind of yellow stuff. I explained them ahout the inner fender hole and they will remove the rocks and dirt from there as well and treat it with the rust protection.

Normally I would pay 1500 for both protections, but I asked for a discount because the car will already be "dismantled" and "covered" for the treatment, so for them it's also less work to do.

So yeah, they sold me both protections for just 1250 USD. I think that is very reasonable.

I'm allowed to walk in any time to see how they work and I will make some short video's and document it for my own channel.

It's always good to document what you do on the car.

Alright guys, this is a serious update and I want to advice others about it.

So today they started doing the rust protection and undercoating.

These are two different protections.
The rust protection is a liquid that goes into all holes of the car and can reach many places we can't see.

The undercoating gives the undercarriage a black layer to protect the car from rock damage, weather damage and it also protects the metal parts from rust because of the layer. It also dampens the sound of rocks hitting the car from below as it is rubber based.

The first thing I noticed was that my car already had a part that started to rust.
See picture attached.

For me this was a HUGE eye opener that this treatment was a very good choice. I don't even want to know how the car would look like if I didn't give it this treatment.

Also what I was curious about is the fender liner hole. They took it all apart and removed all the rocks and sand that was trapped there.

My car has only 100km on the dash and it was filled with a lot of small stones and sand. It was SHOCKING to see. (See picture attached to see how much sand and rocks were trapped).

Now the car has to dry for 24 hours before I can pick it up.

The only down side of this treatment is that your future mechanic will not be very happy installing and removing car parts. It's all covered with slimey protection. But for the piece of mind, this is the best thing that I did to my car.

After 2 full days I got my Mustang back.
It's fully protected against rust and undercarriage rock damage.

For the first time, I covered my Mustang up with a car cover from Amazon. Very very cheap but good quality. Has many reviews and sold tons of times.

Tomorrow I'm going to cover the inner fender holes and I got some official information about it from Ford Europe.

"Hello everyone, I have now received an official answer from Ford Cologne to my question about the holes in the wheel arch: Dear Sir..., I finally got some feedback regarding the holes in the Mustang's wheel arch trim. These are there because this is where the carriage that carries the body from station to station is attached during production. In order to be able to install the wheel arch trim, the recesses are cut (see photo attached).

Since this solution is not the best, we are currently working on a revised wheel arch lining. We cannot currently answer when this will be available in production. Your Ford customer center"

So Ford is going to change this in the future.

Update:

Yesterday I ordered the EU headlight switch for my US Mustang.

After doing some talking with European experts on converting the US car to a EU car, I found some interesting news.

On the S550, the fog light conversion is very difficult, because you have to wire the rear fog light, wire the switch to the BCM and wire the BCM to the switch before coding.

The S650 has all the wiring in place. So only coding is needed. This is a huge step for people who want to convert their car to EU spec to meet the EU regulations.
