What’s the point of M?
If you use the paddles while in Drive, it's only temporarly. It eventually revert to normal automatic mode (if you maintain a constant speed and don't shift).

In M (manual) mode, it stays in the selected gear until you change it, with a few exceptions, such as if you slow down/stop while in a higher gear it can't use to take off in (e.g., stop while in 3rd gear, it will downshift to 1st, but you'll still have to manually upshift after you start to move again).

what sounds even better is when you’re doing it manually why would you buy a car like this in automatic unless your racing
Because I don't have a (human) left leg to operate the clutch on a manual transmission vehicle.

I'm very happy with the automatic. I've driven stick for many many years, started out on 3 on a tree, showing my age, but the automatic beats my stick shifting even though i've learned stick competitively at a younger age. I LOVE doing stick, but I also use this to go on extended trips and in a lot of city, and the auto on this one is very very smooth in shifting (even in sport or track). Though I do have to say it is kind of a kathunk shifting at times downshifting in sport and track in the hills, flatland it is ok.
Me, now, I prefer the auto, to each their own, but I'd put an equal automatic up against an equal stick any day now, this one is so smooth and fast. (equal meaning same rear end, same engine, same aspiration (or modified), as long as the two cars are equal, the autos do tend to get better times on the tracks here)

Like many other old timers on here I started with three on the tree and had a ton of manual cars including many Corvettes. I'm now happily a member of the Mustang crowd starting with my 2020 Mustang GT premium 10 spd suto and now in my 2024 Mustang GT premium with the 10 speed auto. The Mustang is a much better option over the Corvette for us high mileage guys and gals trying to get in and out of a Corvette as they sit too low and they're not really comfortable when you get in them. The Mustang is a great car as it sits higher and much easier to get in and out of with a nice trunk and it's a really good looking vehicle. I have a rapid red coupe with a light gray interior and the stock silver wheels and I think it's one of the hottest looking cars on the road. I get tons of comments on how cool it is.

Sticks are a lot of fun. But when you're through playing, and you get stuck in traffic and other constant shifting situations, it becomes a tiresome chore, in my opinion. The 10 speed auto in my 2020 Mustang was a poorly developed piece of junk that was so irritating, I eventually just traded it in on the 2024 Mustang GT premium 10 spd auto. The difference is NIGHT and DAY. Having a manual selection is great for when you wanna play and when you're done, you just put it in auto and enjoy an effortless SMOOTH
Experience unlike the 2020 Mustang 10 spd auto with it's endless bucking and heaving. The 2024 Mustang GT is the best performance automatic transmission I've ever had that includes numerous Corvette automatic transmissions, the last one being the 2016 Z06 with the eight speed auto. The Mustang has absolutely smooth rev matching second to none and drives like a caddy when you're through playing.

That's must be the reason of why when i bought the S550 and tried the 10AT (coming from a life on manuals) I run away and bough the Bullitt... but when I tried it again on the S650 (DH), I fallen in love. I believed it was because in the meantime I got older.. :°D ..but it's because the one on the DH it's so different.

Another stick story....
In a parade, driving stick, several sticks had clutch issues at the end. The auto's all made it fine, varying car makes n models, sticks had issues.
On the motorcycles, almost all of the Harleys had to be towed to a shop because of different issues, funny, the Hondas all made it fine.
Sorry, not putting down anything, it is just the way it was in the 5 mile long parade.
I was riding a Honda VTX and it was aok at the end.
Yes, it was basically riding the clutch the whole way at a "walking pace".
ok, thanks for the fun y'all
