Got rear-ended yesterday in my 2024 EcoBoost yellow Splash 4000 miles on it I'm a little concerned with the paint match and how well it'll hold up trunk needs to be replaced rear bumper needs to be replaced side fenders look okay but maybe need to be realigned I'm wondering if aftermarket paint is going to hold up should I just eat the whole deal sell the car and buy another one any opinions I would say it's about $4,000 worth of damage I was stopped at a light and got hit and breaks my heart car is brand new and 4 months old and you can't even order that color in 2025

first off, bumpers rarely match the car paint, so go look at it now between the side of the bumper and the quarter and notice it is a shade off.

It is an almost new car, so there is no fading or contamination that would make new paint appear brighter than the factory paint.

In the auto body world, shops are known by reputation.

Good shops rarely get mentioned but the names of bad shops are shouted from the rooftops

If your insurance company is trying to steer you to one of their "preferred" shops, you can bet the farm that shortcuts will be taken. Take that from someone that has been in the trade for 40 years.

You can tell a good shop when you go to get an estimate... the office is clean, if they take you out in the shop it is not a cluttered mess, if you look in the spray booth the filters are not 20 colors and look like they have never been changed.

But the best way is look at a car that has been fixed in bright sunlight, look for color match, crispness of the body lines, panel fitment, no orange peel or dust in the paint and for heaven's sake no runs or sags

If they have a car that is ready to go back to the customer and it looks good that is a good sign.

But ask your friends, again word of mouth is the best advertising for a body shop

PS also hit the insurance company of the vehicle that hit you for diminished value

There is no reason for you to take a $4000 hit on the trade in value because you got hit while minding your own business.

There is a guy out of the Carolina's called Collision Safety Consultants that does that type of secondary claim for a fixed fee and it is worth every cent.

My area of expertise representing car owners against insurance companies does not include diminished value claims, but his does and he is very good at it and his fee is reasonable compared to what you'll get to make up for the fact your car now has a dirty CarFax and you are going to take it up the backside for a few grand when you go to trade it in. He gets you the money the dealer won't give you, the difference between a car with an accident history and one without one.

Use a Ford repair shop. I had LF Fender, hood and front fascia replaced (hit a deer). They color matched Vapor Blue perfectly

Im sorry that this happened to you. Do you have pictures of the damage? I am pretty good at estimating the damage.

Yup, just post some pics, plenty of people here have worked on cars and can ballpark.

I'm taking my car into the body shop tomorrow, had a light fall of a shelf in the garage and gouge a door panel. I'll have it back before Thanksgiving good-as-new. A reputable shop will have no problem replacing a bumper. The only difference versus the original Ford installation will be that it's correctly aligned .

Gotta get that bumper off and have a body shop dig, but if the hood didn't hit anything it can be realigned with a wrench.
