oh man... So, you weren’t driving in the rain, it just got rained on in the driveway or parked?

I got caught out in the rain briefly one night. The next day I was driving, windows down and the rotors were making a God awful screech for about 30 minutes. It took a few hard stops to calm it down and not sound hideous.

#FirstWorldProblems, I know.

I hope your Mustang has no serious issues.

Had it happen, took it in for service and nothing found. Few weeks later the message "parking brake limited function" showed up then went away that was last Thursday. Scheduled service for tomorrow. The message showed up again (once) over the weekend. My issues are not related to wash jobs.
Same thing happened to me this morning. I'll see if I can replicate it.

Ended up replacing the "EBB" (electronic brake booster). Took them three separate service visits to get it troubleshot correctly.

Damn! The car has barely 3,000 miles on it and is only 8 months old. How can something so simple crap out this soon?
UPDATE: I took the car out this afternoon - no more fault message. I hadn't washed the car nor has it rained here in a long while. The car is garaged.

Yeah, these rotors rust really fast. My f150 doesn't rust like these. I drive my car around the block and hit the brakes a few times after I wash it.
Yes they do rust after a good wash those disk rotor give lots of rusty flakes. I'm not a fan of it.. I can see rusty flakes on my black rims..

Same here, the EBB is in fact the master cylinder assembly, rain and washing had nothing to do with it, problem was with the communications circuit originating in the EBB.

Has anyone replaced their rotors yet? Do they rust like the factory ones? My car doesn't get driven in the winter and don't have a garage. They rust so quickly?

Only rotors I have seen that don't rust in a hurry are carbon fiber... lol
Could the factory brake pads on the pp cars with big Brembos create more rust? They work great just, seems like it. I don't track my car. If it sits they rust within days!

Yeah, they probably contribute to that... may be semi-metalic material.

The same exact thing happened to me once a few weeks ago. However, it only happened because I washed the car in my driveway, and then I backed it right into my garage. I had set my parking brake. I believe that the parking brake, which uses a separate electro-mechanical caliper, corroded slightly while sitting there and drying out in the garage. I now believe that if you get it wet and then apply it and then park it and it dries that way, it may hang up. At least that was my experience, so, going forward, I will be careful to ensure it's dry or that it gets actuated while it's drying.
I use brake buster to clean my wheels and tires. Brake buster includes a rust inhibitor. You can also use Hydes Serum Rustopper
