It doesn't know you're touching it just because your finger is touching it.
For god's sake, I'm telling you our Acura works perfectly and the Ford give's false warnings and you won't even put the possibility out there that Ford's system may need some work? If Honda can do it properly, why can't Ford?

This happens when actively driving with both hands on the steering wheel. You should not have to jerk the car back and forth for the system to recognize you are on the steering wheel. My wife's Acura has the same system and has never given a false "hands on wheel" warning in the 5+ years we've had the car. That tells me either Ford's system is inadequate or a tweek needs to be made to the sensor that picks up the rotationof the wheel.
100% agree.

This is my third car and second Ford that have the same feature but the first one to be so annoying about unnecessary "hands on wheel" warnings.

Ford does it the way Ford wants to do it. If they want to require more rotational input, that's their choice.

Without full hands-free, lane assist is a garbage feature, especially in a sports car. The first thing I disabled in my DH was lane assist. It's flat-out annoying AF when you're trying to drive a sports car LIKE a sports car.

It works great in my F150, but I have BlueCruise in it (hands-free).

Maybe you should sell the S650 and buy another Civic? :cwl: J/K

The second one is NOT an "issue". You don't have BlueCruise. See my response above to @samson
It most certainly IS, let me lend an assist:
issue | ĖˆiSHoĶžo | noun 1 an important topic or problem for debate or discussion: the issue of global warming | money is not an issue. ā€¢ personal problems or difficulties: a nice guy with a great sense of humor and not too many issues. ā€¢ (issues) problems or difficulties, especially with a service or facility: a small number of users are experiencing connectivity issues.

I did not say it was a ā€˜problemā€™, or warranty concern (for me), I contextually added that I observe the same symptoms on my MDH.

This iteration of cruise control is great if you ask me, or at least it was on the drive back from the hinterlands outside of Waco, but I did get repeated notifications to ā€˜keep my hands on the wheel!ā€™

Oh god no. I'll put up with every quirk Ford will throw at me before I resort to that. The Acura we have is a 17 MDX and it has a host of other crash avoidance eff-ups, just not this one. It will literally give the frontal crash warning when we are sitting at a stoplight.

The first couple of years (before updates) with my F150 did all kinds of strange things like that. For example, I'd be doing 70 MPH down the freeway, and a message would pop up that said, "Backup Assist Not Active". It's been very stable for the last year and a half, though.

Neither Merriam nor Webster's opinion is relevant here.
I have different opinion. The meaning of words is significant when communicating over a medium in which visual and audio cues present in our every day conversations are missing.

I find the lane keeping assist to work as it is suppose to. I don't use it because I only want my input to the wheel. Setting normal or sport steering has some bearing on how it works. If you never move the wheel at all after a period of time you will get a message hands on the wheel. I believe Ford expects a lane correction in certain time. They don't want people to try and use it as BlueCruise.

The dictionary definition of a word isn't always what's in question. This is not long division.

It is when youā€™re wrong about the issue ( see what I did there? )

This is not long division.
You got one right ! Weā€™re not doing long division, weā€™re having and internet forum quibble about linguistic precision- which I have enjoyed immensely. Iā€™m game for long division if you want

For some, no explanation is necessary. For others, no explanation is possible.

I can illustrate what I did there, but I think you really shouldnā€™t be so hard on yourself. Iā€™m sure we could get you to understanding!
