I have a question here rather than a comment. It seems to me that the biggest sticking point for the future of the Mustang is the existence of the V8. I assume that at some point, emissions regulations will make a V8 physically impossible to ship. I'm not familiar enough with the regulations to know when that will occur, but I assume it'll happen sometime before 2030.

So, my question is - on the presumption that V8s will no longer exist anywhere soon - should Ford continue to develop future Mustangs based on other powertrains? I personally think they should (it's sad to lose the V8, but sadder still to lose the Mustang itself), but I can see why many folks may believe that the Mustang and the V8 are so intrinsically linked that they are inseparable even in principle.
My f350 is a v8 (diesel) but isn’t rated by the epa.

My wife’s 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible had the straight six in it. Mustangs throughout history have had four and six cylinder engines. Although there is nothing better than the sound of a powerful V8, it alone does not define the Mustang.
Have to agree with this, my S550 was a 6spd Coyote, and it was great, don't get me wrong. I have to say though I'm really enjoying the 10A Ecoboost. Everyday driving they feel alot closer than I would have thought possible. Quite a bit of that is probably due to the MT-82 which was.......OK.

Just my opinion, but Ford should focus on the affordability aspect. The Mustang was always the more affordable every day pony car option it seems like. At least in the regular trims. The push to go upmarket could drive away more customers who might want a fun to drive car, but instead decide to just go with a cheaper, boring practical option to save money.

Not on modern cars / EV's / PHEV's which don't have an alternator
The question was where does electricity come from, your reply indicated not internal combustion engines, however the alternator on an ice produces the desired electricity.

The MX5 is a great car and a true blast to drive. I certainly wouldn't classify it as boring, or practical. It is slighty more affordable but if a Mustang is too much to spend on a fun car, then that same buyer I wouldn't think would then decide to go buy a Miata.

I would bet that same buyer would probably just buy some fuel efficent sedan or CUV. Thats the part of the market I believe Ford is missing by pricing the Mustang too high. A regular Joe who might be willing to compromise a little bit to have a fun coupe, but then sees the price and decides its not worth it.

No. My response was to 'You actually cannot have EV without ICE ' from another poster which is patently untrue.

Ford cannot produce a Mustang for the same price as an MX5 never mind cheaper. There is no market to miss.
