Received this update last night and it’s VERY buggy with CarPlay. Took quite awhile and a lot of trial and error to finally get anything to show up. Deleted my phone and reinstalled to no avail. After an hour of trying to get it set up correctly again, I just gave up. Might go back and work on it more later. As of now I can play music from my phone but that’s it. All my apps are gone on screen even though they still show on CarPlay on the phone. So I have no way to use Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, etc. here’s a couple of screenshots I was receiving. Finally got it paired but no apps yet.

Maybe try to turn off the wireless CarPlay and use the usb cable with it to see if any of it works.

I didn’t think ios18 was even ready for full release yet. Maybe Ford has an update that will be pushed out?

You’d think that Apple would’ve exhaustively tested the update with all manufacturers systems before release. Oh wait, we are the testers!

My current role is in Data and Telecommuncations and my org is an Apple shop for the most part. It's been my experience that Apple tests their devices and iOS with APPLE. Anyone who wants to integrate Apple products is expected to conform to Apple; not the other way around.

That makes sense. Maybe the issue then lies with the integrators who I would assume received a pre-release version ahead of time to test with their systems.

Yessir, being part of the Beta Testers will result in your device not functioning properly, and not just with CarPlay. This isn’t the finished product and I’m sure that it will be corrected but as a Tester, I’m sure that you’ve reported it as well. Hopefully this will get worked out before Monday of next week when it’s made available to the Public. Hang in there Bud.

Never even thought about it being a beta version. It was pushed to me last night as just IOS 18. In past versions it was always pushed as a release candidate. Well, this one is definitely not prime time ready.

Interesting if you got iOS 18 ahead of the Public release scheduled for 09/16. I did see an RC drop on one of the sites that I visit but that is very interesting. If it was sent accidentally, hopefully they will issue a iOS 18.0.1 for this.

‘the good news is that I went back out to recreate the results and it now appears to be working fine.

i’ve been on iOs 18 since the first beta and only had connectivity issues twice, fortunately after restarting the car it fixed itself.

I’m on the beta testing program and have only had a couple of issues. It has always connected, but my display wasn’t always correct. Meaning instead of the car play screen I would get the screen as though I had plugged a thumb drive in -OR- my display was divided into three sections. It always seemed to correct itself after turning the car off, opening the driver’s door for a few seconds, then restarting the car.

Since it is in Beta, not a final release, anyone who downloads it is in fact a Beta tester.

maybe the sync os isn't up to date on the car? or other software that may cause the issue?
