I drive, apparently, with a very light touch on the wheel, as I continually get a popup message that says "Keep Hands on the Steering Wheel", and then mutes (or dims) the stereo. But I have my hands on the steering wheel and I'm tired of having to death grip the wheel to keep the message from scolding me. Anything I can do to disable this particular feature?

nope. not unless you find out the module responsible for monitoring input, dump the programming, decompile the dumped programming, make the appropriate edits, recompile the programming, and upload that modified programming to the offending module

No way as of now. I've to turn off the lane keeping every time I turn on the car, and get rid of a very useful feature (that I liked in the S550) to shutup the thing, because the system is bugged.

The stereo mute comes after the 2nd or 3rd popup, right? It’s definitely a bug, I got this on a 1.5 mile stretch of farm to market road, a straightaway and it’s not like I was hands off, but again, it was just coincidentally straight. The thing is, it’s crowned too, so I was making steering input, it just wasn’t enough.

@Cauf E. Bean ..... same for me. I haven't found a way yet. Small comfort but friends with vehicles other than Fords tell me they have the same pita feature in their cars. My biggest concern is 1. is this information relayed to the insurance company? I have a good grip of the wheel but still get the warning....and 2. IF the information is relayed to the insurance company and I am in an accident that is not my fault will they say there were 200 times you had a warning to better grip the steering wheel?

You shouldn't have to turn it off every time. I turned off the lane keeping aid the day I bought the car, and haven't touched it since.

FYI: It's NOT looking for a grip (pressure) on the steering wheel. It's looking for a slight movement of the wheel (clockwise or ccw).

You can turn off the nag by subscribing to and using Bluecruise. If you're truck is not equipped with BC, the you can't disable the nag unless you disable lane centering.

EDIT: Chit, forget that part about BC. I forgot I was on M7G and not the F150 forums ....

That's weird because mine doesn't
Maybe it's a EU thing, despite a disable it in the menu, or using the button on the steering wheel, it turns back on at the next restart. Even in the menu it's specified it will stay on only for the current drive.

Use your knee to steer instead of your hands.

Just kidding! DON'T do that! 😆

When I received my Ecoboost PP I disable lane assist and it never came back on.

Furthermore this is what ford service is saying

Lane Keeping System - Switching the Lane Keeping System On and Off

To activate the lane keeping system, press the button on the steering wheel.
To deactivate the lane keeping system, press the button again.
Note: When switching the system on or off a message appears in the instrument cluster display to show the status.
Note: The system stores the on or off setting until manually changed by you.

So IDK
