These ships turned up when the Qube strike action was going to take place and it caught everyone on the hop. I think Ford tried to find work around but it didn't go to plan, in fact it made things worse for their customers. Sometimes the do-nothing approach works best. Should've just waited out the strike action (which eventually got cancelled).
Yes Deano, the Qube Strike was the catalyst for the comedy of errors, as you say Ford should have just waited, although of course that's easy for us to say in hindsight.

Ford would have been under pressure to find a quick solution, although It's odd that the cars were not off-loaded whilst docked at Newcastle after nearly two weeks anchored off Newcastle.

Yeah i was watching Tortugas on Marine Traffic and it floated outside Brisbane for over a week then finally got in. Then floated outside Port Kembla for a few days before diverting to Newcastle. Was only in port at Newcastle for a short amount of time but would have thought they would have got the NSW cars off then (apparently not though based on earlier comments). My car is a Melb car so will be sitting on the docs in quarantine in Melb. Wish the port would have something on their website showing current wait times. Would be helpful for everyone!

Just came back from another snoop. Unfortunately, the line up of Mustangs at Port of Melbourne haven’t moved since last weekend. In fact, it’s worse! There are now hatch backs blocking/in front of them plus more have arrived! 😢

I wonder if any of the mustangs on these two ships have been delivered yet?
It appears that some of the mustangs that arrived in Melbourne after these two ships are trickling out to customers.
I wonder what tall story Ford Au will come up with next to keep its customers hanging on to their hopes and dreams of getting their car soon.

Looks like LATE March at the earliest for the Melbourne Quarantined Tortugas / Tosca NSW Mustangs!

From my Dealer today - and I suspect this is an optimistic estimate:

Apparently the plan is to ship the NSW cars back to Pt Kembla after finally escaping Quarantine, then distributed to Dealers via Car Transporter - which will probably add a week.

"The latest update with these vehicles cleaning, Ford is aiming to have the Sydney vehicles cleaned by mid-late March as the quarantine issue on this lot seems to have created a big issue for the whole state.

They finally got some port approvals so hopefully these will start moving from next month."

Crickey Steve! I feel for you.
I stuck with Gateway Ford and accepted their stock ordered vehicle. It was affected by the recall but Ford fixed it while it was at the port (must of been one of the first they got to) and I took delivery on 27th December. We will have to catch up when you finally get yours.

Wow what a monumental xuck up, our new cars sitting in the direct sun and heat for three months should kill all of the contaminants as well as cause unnecessary UV wear and tear on the paint and interior. Our 24.5 cars are already considered 12 months old and as such have devalued before we will receive them.

I wonder if my dealer will be given the same excuse for the delayed delivery.
I will ask him to follow it up next week to see if Ford Au is feeding all of the dealers the same excuse.

Some movement at Port of Melbourne. Hopefully this is a good sign but might be wishful thinking

thnx mate for your trip to the ports and sharing this update. Makes me furious that the cars from Tortugas have been sitting on the dock for nearly a month now and it's NOW that they are starting the cleaning or actually will start at the end of this month.
How is it that no one is accountable for this mess and it is us the customers who are left holding the can..so mad at this display of incompetence and lack of accountability !!!!!!!!

On a different note, has anyone's dealership offered any compensation or anything else to make good on this delay ??

I just had a conversation with my dealer and Ford Au informed him that the cars from these two ships won’t be cleaned in Melbourne and will be shipped back to Port Kembla and cleaned there then delivered to the dealer.
ETA to the dealership probably won’t be until early April.

With all of this movement of these cars it makes me wonder how contaminated they really are?

A reasonable person could deduct that if they are allowed to have these cars sit on Australian soil for months without being cleaned then the risk of them being contaminated is very low and therefore they are most likely not contaminated at all.

Maybe the reason they are stranded in Melbourne is because Ford made the decision to have them delivered there due to Port Kembla being on strike and they now realise that the NSW cars are going to cost them more money to transport them to NSW via trucks.

I guess we will never know why they didn’t deliver these cars to Newcastle when both of these ships docked there.

Yeah, it all sounds like a very odd way of doing things.
My car is destined to go to a Melbourne dealer so it will be washed at Port of Melb.
Port of Melb is chooked full of cars, albiet I haven't seen it before 3 weeks ago, so maybe its just standard. Ford Au might take the view that it could potentially save time if Port Kembla quarantine isn't as full. Having said that, I reckon your theory is more likely the case, in that it would cost more to truck all the vehcles of multiple trucks than to stick them all on one ship. What ship are they loading the NSW stangs onto?
I also agree that they can't be that bad if they're letting them sit on land unwashed for a month (and counting)!

Hi Brumby, glad you got your Mustang, and in hindsight I should have also stuck with Gateway. Anyway, I will look forward to catching up when I finally get mine! Cheers mate.
