Thanks mate
Maybe they are just keeping the batteries charged and the tyres rotated to prevent flat spots lol
Like you, I somehow doubt that - so we are probably looking at potentially Deflated and Flat-Spotted Tyres, Accelerated UV and Salt Air Damage and Corrosion from prolonged open exposure (on the warf), Degraded Battery, Stale Fuel or Out Of Fuel .....and of course Depreciation on a MY24.5 Vehicle in 2025 before they are delivered! Looking Good (Not)

I just had a conversation with my dealer and Ford Au informed him that the cars from these two ships won’t be cleaned in Melbourne and will be shipped back to Port Kembla and cleaned there then delivered to the dealer.
ETA to the dealership probably won’t be until early April.

With all of this movement of these cars it makes me wonder how contaminated they really are?

A reasonable person could deduct that if they are allowed to have these cars sit on Australian soil for months without being cleaned then the risk of them being contaminated is very low and therefore they are most likely not contaminated at all.

Maybe the reason they are stranded in Melbourne is because Ford made the decision to have them delivered there due to Port Kembla being on strike and they now realise that the NSW cars are going to cost them more money to transport them to NSW via trucks.

I guess we will never know why they didn’t deliver these cars to Newcastle when both of these ships docked there.
All good points, and it makes sense to ship all the NSW cars to Pt Kembla for de-contamination if there is less congestion, as they will have to ship them there anyway. However that would presumably require the explicit approval and cooperation of the Fed "Public Servants" at Customs.

so did some digging around on the Port Kembla Daily vessels movement page and the next Vessel Carrier coming in from Melbourne is on the 1st of March called Altair Leader...however it is Japanese ship and not the line that Ford uses. I reckon we're shafted...it's going to be a long wait. I've raised this with my dealer and with some pushing, they are ok for me to cancel and get back my deposit. Thinking about it

I can empathise, however it would be a shame to cancel now, when it is (hopefully) so close !

Although alternatively you could also cancel this one and try your luck ordering a fresh new one....

As previously indicated , my Dealer stated Ford are hoping for a mid to late March release from Quarantine (at the earliest)- then the NSW cars to be shipped to Pt Kembla, and then by truck / Transporter to the Dealers.

Similar conversation with my dealer. They are starting to clean our lot of Mustang's next week and start trucking out them to Melb dealers the following. Apparantly there's no method to the madness though and it's just pure luck if mines at the front of the queue. I feel for you guys though as they will have to wait for all NSW Mustang's to be washed before allocating them to a ship (unless their plan is to stick them on the ship dirty and wash them at Port Kembal). What a bloody nightmare! It's tempting to tell them where to go but I agree Steve, we've come this far..

24.5 DARK HORSE Blue Ember auto. 21.5 Oxford white GT auto gone to a new owner.
I was told by my dealer that once I have the car to call Ford Au and put in a claim for compensation (I was also told this by Ford Au customer service).

Im in a slightly different position to most in that I traded my 21 GT with less than 5000km on the clock back on the 2nd October 24 and was told by the dealer that I would have my Dark Horse early in December.

So the dealer not only got my GT at a good price they sold it quickly with a large profit and have been getting interest on the money whilst I still don’t have a car.

I will be definitely be asking for some sort of compensation from my dealer as well.

Oh yeah, that's shit! Definitely go for compensation with that being the case. PS jealous you got your hands on a Dark Horse although I'm sure the GT will be awesome too

Yea I guess I was lucky in that way but I only updated because I had the opportunity to get the Dark Horse otherwise I would have kept my S550.

Hi everybody
Does anyone know if the NSW Mustangs on these two ships have been sent from Port Melbourne back to Port Kembla yet ?
Or are they still sitting on the dock at Port Melbourne ?

I believe they’re still sitting at port of Melb in the queue to be washed unless they put them of Carmen which was heading up to Port Kembla

The NSW cars which were unloaded in Melbourne (Tosca/tortugas) will NOT be treated in Melbourne...too many cars queued up there. Ford confirmed they would be shipped to PK and treated there. Now whether any of those made it onto the Carmen, no one knows...

The Carmen went a different way around Aus, ie. Fremantle —> Melbourne —> Sydney, so one would think this was the reasoning and that they are on Carmen. But… common sense is not common
