Valid point, but GM chassis and magnaride are scary vs downforce. Also the ability to overcome slight cornering deficiencies in the straights with not only the 200HP power difference but the ~800lb weight difference will impact the results. If you go back and look the Viper is a MONSTER because of the "low" weight.

Cliff Notes - The ZR1 is ~800 lbs lighter with 200 more HP... Downforce? maybe
Downforce is a different question entirely, the GTD has both more peak downforce and less straight line downforce thanks to its active aero vs the static aero on the ZR1
It's gonna be a fun comparison for sure, I'm just really happy both these cars exist to be honest. The ZR1 will take it on the straights for sure, but will it overcome the cornering advantage of the GTD? That will remain to be seen.

It is worth noting while the GTD is more of a handling car than a power car, it's still moving at a pretty good clip down the straights, I believe it was hitting 170-180 down several straights. The ZR1 will probably hit around 200 is my guess, which is insane.

The way I see it, we went from having 0 American cars capable of a sub 7 lap to multiple options in less than a year, which is just badass.

I think if one were to buy a new dark horse and have the dealer installed ford performance supercharger, you'd pretty much have what you're talking about,

If the GDT weight is correct in the other thread the ZR1 has a 1000lb weight advantage. That is a huge advantage in the twisties.

The Americans haven’t figured out aluminum yet it seems. (Mustang still steel)
My guess is this comes the next generation. Ford has talked about how mustang's best days are ahead, and how they plan on doubling down on it just as others are leaving the sports coupe segment. This, paired with Ford CEO Jim Farley who's a race car driver himself talking about how he wanted to make the mustang lighter, those are all promising signs in terms of the next mustang being even better.

To be fair, the aluminum body f-150s seem to have held up incredibly well.
Not disputing that, disputing the place they should have concentrated their efforts, as stated above.

I.E. he basically said the USA is stupid in the way they present their weight loss, and I was being a smart ass

min going to nerd out so hard if they do an aluminum frame double wishbone car and it turns out the GTD was the chassis test mule excuse he needed to push the program into engineering/design.

The filmer estimates that it ran a 6:45. That thing is moving, appears to be going faster than previous clips, even in ones with good weather. I don't know if it's because the driver is more comfortable with the car now, or if they made some tweaks and improvements to it to make it handle even better.
Dam look at those exhaust tip's.

It's additional tips (silencers) used at the Nurburgring to respect the local law about noise levels (max 130dbA on drive-by if I'm not wrong, and 95dbA static). They are applied to the original mufflers.
They have active sound monitors around the track, unless you want to be banned you gonna respect it (it's not because of track managers, but because of the environment where the track is located).
