Says something about all the naysayers who have posted how bad the mustang is, failing in sales, not comparing to other makers, blah, blah, blah.....
The Mustang will always sell more than these low volume performance cars.

The concerns center around comparing mustang sales to mustangs sales year to year.

Flat Rock Assembly Plant (FRAP) in Michigan was closed for the entire month in July 2024 - zero Mustangs were produced! If production wasnā€™t halted Iā€™d bet that production numbers wouldā€™ve been slightly higher then previous year!

Iā€™d suprised that the Corvette sold as well as it did considering the price! I think it shows that there is absolute demand for the V8 American muscle car!

....... are we surprised by this? Of COURSE our beloved Mustangs are #1 ....and as my Corvette buddy says "I wish my 'vette sounded like your GT."
The Mustang GT actually sounds better than a Corvette!

@Evo1986 ..... agreed - and NOT to get political, but Mr. T may well have changed the trajectory of future ICE sports car sales......and if the most enormous economy in the world (USA) gets a big kick start (highly likely) then IMO a whole lot of people will have more money and better opportunities to realize their dreams. What better dream that to own a Mustang? What better way to celebrate Mustang's 60th than a USA revival? It's comin' and the Mustangs aren't goin'! IMO. I bet we'll be looking at new Mustang models on THIS forum 10 years from now! Yeah Baby!

True, 2024 was not a stellar year for the mustang, but I believe a lot of factors were involved, new platform, price, economy, election year to name just a few. One off year does not define a legendary car.
Been that way for a few years

They sold more Mustangs in 1989 than they did the last four years combined.

this. Even launch sales were bad. And thatā€™s usually when they sell the most by far.

the mustang sales werenā€™t that great as the s550 got old. Then the s650 just kept that oldness. When an actual new mustang log comes out with next gen looks and performance it will have a fighting chance. The s650 just left the gate saddled with the carcass of the old gen. Itā€™s not rocket science.

Itā€™s like that with any product. Not just cars.

BS. 40K plus sales with the factory closed for a month. Would have probably been close to 50K if not for that.
Mustang sales are strong and will continue into the future. Bet they get closer to 50K this year, even with the new high prices.

Unfortunately it wasnā€™t one off yearā€”itā€™s basically been on a downward trend since the S550 debuted in 2015.

The fact that the Mustang only sold about 1,000 more cars than the Corvette should raise some eyebrows.
