The Boot
Whatever method I use to open it, it only unlocks the boot, and I have to manually lift it to open it. It doesn't swing open by itself. Is this normal? I've seen a few videos of earlier models where people do manually lift it.
They set the boot lid up like that so you can pop it on a rainy day and it doesn't fly open and fill the boot with water.

Not only that, in my garage, where I usually store my cars, I have a a shelf running along the wall, if I fully open the trunk, it touches it. It would be super annoying to have the boot opening completely on the button push.

I don't feel this point.

You're not going to pop the hood from 2 miles away to let it fill. If it rains, you can pop the trunk when you are standing close. The time it will be open to use the trunk will be the same time as when you open it manually.

No difference in the amount of water that will get inside.

I can give you few examples. Sometime (for me it's most of the times!) you don't open it for yourself, but you open it for someone else exiting the car and collecting the luggage, in example. It would be very annoying to "coordinate" the opening or leaving the other person to find the button (most of my passengers doesn't even know where it is), so you unlock it from the inside leaving the person to fully open it whenever they are comfortable to do so (in example if they are holding an umbrella), otherwise under heavy rain it'll rain inside the trunk.

This is just an example.. for me (as mentioned in the other message) is the shelve: normally I open the trunk from inside the car, when I have my hands free, then I collect whatever I need to collect by gently opening it...

I would never have an "automatic" opening trunk, unless it had a sensor for obstructions and a raining sensor (but it's asking too much for a Mustang.. :) ).

Well, we don't even have to agree with each other. We have 3 buttons to unlock the trunk.

1. Next to your light switch
2. Car key
3. Above your license plate

We could have all the options to open the trunk to make everybody happy.

And on your key could make it like press once for small open, press twice for full open.

I use the inside button, because usually when I exit my car I have the keyfob in the pants and one hand busy, so it's tricky, for a similar reason is tricky to push the button above the license plate (because of limited space). So the best option I have is to open it before, and then just move it to fully open. I mean, for me, it's the easiest way.
Plus the other reasons I've explained (when raining). And I'm sure there's other reason which wouldn't come to my mind now.

It would be nice to have two ways of opening it, but this car is missing the light in the glove box (you have to use your phone torch to find a document), how do you pretend to have a such comfort outside? :D

I would never choose an option on the car just so that passengers or other people who do not use the car have an easier way to open the trunk. For me that's the least I think of.

Are we missing the light in the glove box?
I thought it had a light. I can't remember.
I know there is a light in the compartment under your armrest. That's what I know for sure, but ai have to check the glove box.

99% of my passenger wouldn't find the button to open the trunk! This includes my girlfriend who know the car.. and it was an "issue" with the previous models as well. I can imagine them finding it under the rain, that's why I open it from the inside.

Yes, we're missing the glovebox light (I couldn't believe it when I noticed), we still have the light under the armrest. And talking about lights, my dark horse interpreted the word "dark" literally: it goes fully black after a short time if you close the door and you don't start it, even the start button on the console will turn off, so when I didn't had the muscle memory to know where the button is, I had to turn on the interior lights to find it... I mean it would have been so hard to leave the ambient lights on like a normal car (like the S550) when the occupant is inside it? Ford puzzling decisions...

This and it’s not a Lincoln.

Ford puzzling decisions.
Ford lost huge on EV division and they’re making up that loss cutting costs on all ICE models.

The issue isn't with the boot, but the superlight bonnet, which looks like to fly away at high speed (it doesn't but gives that feel), but it was a thing on the S550 too.
I noticed this too, the first time I drove it home up the highway. Did see a Youtube video about alignment of panels on the front, and they suggested adjusting the rubber stops under the bonnet......did this and it did have an improvement on the fluttering for lift off when a truck passes the opposite direction.

I've asked the stopper adjustment as first thing (as I did on my S550) coz I already knew it... it improves a little when you push them to the right height, but not much, at high speed the thing is moving like crazy. I know it won't fly away (cars are being tested at 100Km/h+ above the max speed in the wind tunnel), but it's not a good view.
I've got used of it really, many time I've had passengers concerned about it... but if it didn't opened so far... :)
