Tongue in cheek - remembering the Mach 1 debacle a few years ago.

Speaking of Ford Australia Exhaust System Stuff-Ups - I also remember the rubbish job some clown did at FoA on the BA-FG XR8 & GT Exhausts. It was so hopelessly bad (restrictive single dual outlet that sounded like a dry fart), I am sure it lost more sales than they actually sold!

Might also be worth listing what hasn't changed between the S550 and S650 as a comparison.

I've had a go below, any mistakes let me know and I'll edit the post.

• Chassis - 90% same as S550 depending on whether we get some of the US PP goodies.
• Engine - 90% same as S550 (except intake and exhaust, internally its the same).
• Gearbox - same Getrag as the S550 that has known issues.
• Suspension - same, S650 and S550, parts will be interchangeable.
• Steering - 98% same as S550 (US GT PP2 versions get the Mach 1 rack), 16 vs 15.5 ratio
• Brakes - 95% same as S550 in rotor dia. Area increased by 18% and 30% F/R
• Wheels - same as S550 judging by the builder.
• Appearance pack - same
• Black pack - same
• Seats - same?
• Turning circle - slightly smaller but who cares - 12.2 vs 11.5
• Weight - 95% same, S650 is about 5% heavier

Its sad but amusing to read the above and realise that the 18% price hike is for new panels and interior that has the brake, start button, and cup holders on the wrong side of the console.

Did they bother moving the steering wheel and pedals?

I feel most aspects of the S650 have been improved eg.
improved 10R80 response and shift times, improved engine oil cooler on GT PP, suspension parts upgraded, improved magneride tuning, improved active exhaust, improved lighting front and back sequential on aus cars , great new heated and featured flat bottom steering wheel, seats are actually 10mm wider design between bolsters at shoulder, sound system improved, improved radiators and fans on PP, Black pack black bezel headlights same as dark horse on GT, active cruise standard on aus cars, just about every thing has been looked at and upgraded hence 7G. All these things take time and money to develop

I agree this was the case but when I recently built the aussie car on FoA build site and looked at info drop down box on Black pack option it said we get black bezels. ( I checked again now ,it is still there ) May be we have a small win .

Compared to the MY21.5, another difference is the S650 strictly specifies 98 fuel only.

Anyone recall what their FN CO2 emissions were specified at?
Not mentioned in the old brochure.

In addition we finally get BLIS and Sequential Indicators, and the Navigation is now where it should always have been - swapped places with the high mounted air vents - so it is actually now visible - without running off the road..

Don't think the std GT comes with a spoiler at all, only way to get one is to order the Appearance pack.

We have very limited options down under.
What we get is basically the Performance Pack minus a few things.

But don't stir the pot!
I am so jealous we cannot order the space grey interior.
Would look great with Oxford White.

How good does the Space Grey interior look! Especially on the Recaro's I have an Oxford White S650 on order and would have killed to have that option available

Larger MY24 GT Engine Oil Cooler - transversely mounted behind new metal Sump. It is also near the hot Cats, although it is now placed to catch cold air flow under the car.

This should be a big improvement over the hot engine-mounted set-up on all previous models (FM/FN).
