2020 F150 4x4 Limited. 2024 GT Mustang Premium. Both in Rapid Red.
I currently have a dilemma.
I went to my local Ford dealer and they had a 2024 Dark Horse sitting on the showroom floor in Dark Matter Gray Metallic. It has the 700 A package with Black Calipers with White Logo. Tech Pkg. with a Clear Bra and Window Tint. Etc.
List is $69,210.
I was offered $64,749 & they would give me $44,000 for my 2024 GT NON PP.
Does this sound as good as it gets. The $44,000 would pay off my loan on the GT.
They are holding it until Monday for me to decide. I just want a little advice from the Experts.
We took her for a test drive, and it was awesome but, a little faster than I thought.
I would leave the summer tires on for now and already checking on tires for next winter. I do not drive our Pony Car in the snow or rain or damp roads. I will also probably only put 5000 miles a year on it. Maybe a little more.
What say you,
and thank you?

If you like the DH better than your current car, and the numbers work for you, no reason not to...

Iā€™d be on it like a duck on a Junebug.

But you might as well be asking an alcoholic if you should take another drink.

I just had the track attack with a guy that had a loaded '24 GT he traded plus 30k for his DH. GT had 5k miles on it. That story I got first hand on Friday.

ok... Not to be a wet blanket, but:

You owe 44k -ish on your Non PP GT, you want to trade it on a MDH 700A w/ tech package - anything else; HP? Auto or 6 sp and how important is that to you?

What is the interest on your GT vs. what youā€™ll get on the MDH?
Itā€™s a ā€™24, so already a full MY old.

What numbers are you getting by way of payments per month and how ā€œcomfortableā€ is that for you?

Are you unhappy with the GT? or just Jonesing for a Dark Horse ( and, let me be abundantly clear, there is no bad reason to want the Dark Horse ).

Even only 10 years ago Iā€™d have jumped on something similar myself. My current self would think pretty hard about this. Easy for me to say, I have the Dark Horse.

Full confession: Another Raptor was my first choice, but, I checked it out and I just was not wowed by it. I briefly looked at the Raptor R, I could swing it but, I will not pay ADM and finance some sales-botā€™s month long vacation to Tahiti. It would irk me every time I got in the truck. I did like what I was reading online about the Dark Horse and mine has exceeded expectations on almost all fronts.

So, think hard about the money aspect here is my counsel. As previously guided, if you are able to comfortably swing it and you want it, sometimes you just have to say: ā€˜What the fĆŗckā€™.

I think they may be shorting you on the trade. I just got $4k off my new 24 October built 700a blue caliper Dark Horse 3 weeks ago.
I got $40k for my premium 21 Mach 1, 4 years old and with 28k miles on it.
What did you pay for your GT is the big question?

What you said makes a lot of sense. Iā€™m kind of on the fence. Weā€™ve been talking this over today with my wife and we may pass.
I believe itā€™s a good deal but my Wife isnā€™t sold on it.
I may pass on it.
Itā€™s near my Limit.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me out with this. Itā€™s greatly appreciated.

I traded my 22 Mach 1 for the DH love it.
Not trying to top your story but I traded both my ā€˜23 Mach 1s for a pair of DHs. The Mach is a wondrous car on itā€˜s own but the DH seems to be at a whole ā€˜nother level.

Was your Mach auto or manual?
Only reason I traded mine was for the manual. Huge mistake listening to my wife when I purchased the 10-speed ..
Always a regrettable mistake! šŸ¤£

You only die once!
True words right here!

Man... I really hate being a killjoy.
But, if I could go back and tell my 17 year old self to chill, stop chasing your tail on the money pit car and youā€™ll be crap tons better off, Iā€™d probably be a lot better off. Not that Iā€™m complaining mind you, but I spent poorly back then, and had several ensuing beater cars until I got my stuff more together than it was before.

If the Dark Horse is going to cut into the fun budget, stick with the GT. If the fun budget is still there, as others have said the Dark Horse is worth it. Pricey, but worth it.
Just make sure youā€™re able to handle the $$$ with room to spare. If not, sock that money away for the right one to come along.
