I was supposed to pick up my new Ford Mustang GT Premium today but the dealership told me there is a new software recall?

He said it aas so bad there is a complete stop on buying new Mustangs period until the software can get fixed.

I asked if he meant a day or two but he told me he had no idea, could be a month for all he knows. But I have no read anything here.

Has anybody heard of this recall? Honestly the process to try and buy a new Mustang GT has been so annoying/stressful/taxing I may honestly just walk away.

Thanks to anybody who knows anything. I'm very confused.

Is your car at the dealership and you are unable to complete the delivery?

If you are outside the US - it could be true - many EU customers have been getting a real bad software which is causing all sorts of errors popping up.

if you arre in the US - it’s most likely BS. Either the dealer is going to sell it at a markup or a near and dear wants that puppy(pony) of yours

If it is safety-related, a hold would be appropriate. Any recall affecting safety features results in a hold on the vehicle until the issue is resolved, be they new off the trailer or in for scheduled service.

If a new recall, often an advanced notice will be sent. This notice advises dealers to hold any vehicle they come across with more information is coming. Later, a second message clarifies the nature of the recall and offers a fix.

In each message, a recall number is referenced. Question to the dealer: what recall are they referring to? They should be able to offer you a copy of that message immediately.

Recalls circulate here quickly. I haven't noticed any other new threads or messages. I''d return to the dealer and ask for the details. It could all be legit. Several recalls remain active. Yet another? We'd need the reference number and title.

I used these cars as a sample (V8's and Ecoboost):
https://www.downtownford.ca/new/vehicle/2024-ford-mustang-gt-premium-id13260465.htm

https://www.thorncrestford.ca/en/ne...astback/2024-ford-mustang-fastback-id33334433

Entered the VIN's (1FA6P8CF2R5429411, 1FA6P8TH9R5131441, 1FA6P8R0XR5503872, 1FA6P8R04R5505486) here:
https://www.ford.ca/support/recalls-details/

All state "No Recalls" and "No Customer Satisfaction Programs" except for the Manual Dark Horse, but it's the already known Inspect manual transmission line Campaign# 24S36.

Are you looking at specific packages (auto/manual, Ecoboost/V8, other)?

I'm in the US and have had almost no issues with the infotainment system, if that's what you are referring to. That's too bad you're having so much trouble getting those wheels under you. I visited a local dealership just to check out their mustangs in the lot and walked out with a GT premium convertible a few hours later.

@Vapor Blue GT ..... I question your dealer's comment. My dealer and several others nearby are selling, delivering and taking orders for 2024 and 2025 mustangs - so, fake news?

I'm getting a little bit annoyed if I can be honest with you.

So nobody here has heard anything about a full stop due to software issues? He said he has no idea when it will be fixed so that I can pick up my car. He said nobody is allowed to sell any cars until the system is fixed.

I have a deposit down so how could he sell the car under me, is that still possible? This is getting beyond frustrating and I almost feel like he's trying to sell it to someone else because not only did I get Ford Employee pricing but I also got an extra 1900 knocked off from bargaining.

I was supposed to pick up the damn car Friday and now nothing, he didn't even tell me if it would be closer to a week or two months, but this forum seems to have no information on it.

Weird. Annoyed. Sorry for the venting. Maybe this year is just not my upgrade to GT year.

Our GT arrived Friday evening, and we picked it up yesterday morning. No mention of any recalls. I’m not in Canada, but here’s a solid datapoint for you 🤷‍♂️.

Did you ask for specifics? When I was working dealer last year, we had hold frequently, some for a simple tire pressure decal missing. I doubt any funny business.

@Vapor Blue GT ..... you have every right to be frustrated. Something is janky. I know of many new 2024 Mustangs for sale. Just google Auto Gurus or Auto Trader (Canada) and you'll see them. I know of a dealer in a town nearby that has a 2024 Dark Horse (new) for sale, as of Friday it was on the lot. I think a dealer in Kingston has a 2024 Dark Horse that is still for sale. Your dealer may be messing with you. Some dealers in Canada are jacking-up the prices of 2024 Mustangs - just "fishing" to see what they can catch. You may have to get your deposit back and shop elsewhere. But before I did that I'd talk with the sales manager, if you haven't already.

If you locked in a good price, they are likely trying to shake you off, just hope you get annoyed by waiting and pull out of the deal and go elsewhere, whilst they sell your car for higher profit.

Why don't you ask them to show you this supposed "recall", and let them know you did your research and could not find any record of a recall on it.
