The sound is associated with a warning - probably door open or seatbelt off. It would be pointless just bonging away for no reason
That makes sense conceptually, but it doesn't explain why I'm experiencing the huge inconsistency I've described.

if its making the typical ford chime sounds, that means the electrical system went below a level it was happy about. i have had this happen to me when my battery was low on voltage. it should revert back to the Mustang sounds after driving and charging the battery, then turn it off and let it sit for a while. next start it should revert back to the Mustang sounds

Well, I still don't know the answer to this. I still get the seatbelt chime, but that's not what I'm talking about here - I'm talking about the Mustang "drums" sound. I only heard it once when I took delivery of the car and never again. I'm wondering if there was a software update or something that killed it off? :-\

I have only drove ours once in last 5 months , so I may be totally wrong. I thought it makes that sound when you remote start the car , then get in and sit down.

The sound is when the parking brake is not engaged and you open the door on either exit or entrance. (6 speed manual)

Mine disappeared when I upgraded my stereo.

I need to test this out. I always use my parking brake and I don't rememberibg hearing the heartbeat.

Mine has never made that sound until this week when my fuel level was low (sub 50 miles warning had already gone off before I stopped). On restart I got the galloping chime!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I could swear I saw a setting for this one time when I was looking through vehicle settings...

Mine does it everytime i get in the car with or without remote start. I'll have to pay closer attention to see if it goes away under any conditions.

I just tested mine several times, and can confirm the heart beat sound comes on every time you push start button. It does not matter if the e-brake is on, or if I use remote start or not.

I do have to wonder if it's tied to the B&O sound system or its settings since I always get the B&O logo on my screen on start up. Can anyone confirm that non-B&O cars have the heart beat?
