Anyone regret getting the S650? I ordered my manual 24 GT performance with 401a after I totalled my manual 15 GT performance with 401a. I try really hard to like the 24 but I just can't get into it...

That is unfortunate. Sounds like you need to move into something else more geared towards the driving experience you are looking for. Good luck out there!

I think people are going into it with the wrong expectations respectfully speaking. It's an new generation of an iconic sports coupe. Whenever that happens, of course people are gonna be excited. Here's the thing, the s650 is a really good car, but it's not gonna blow your mind, particularly if you've already owned an s550.

But in some respects, that's not a bad thing. The s650 might use the same basic chassis, and powertrain as the s550, but it's a really good powertrain with the 5.0 especially, and the chassis is decent, not amazing, but better than older mustangs.

I would encourage you to look at the s650 not as this radical all new thing, but rather, a s550 that's been improved in every way.

Only regret is maybe not waiting longer to get more money off. I mean i got 4K off in September which wasn’t bad at all. And maybe an auto only because of health issues but realistically nope.

Can you elaborate?

Since owning my S197, nothing has impressed me enough to make the jump to something newer until now. Yes, bringing back the 5.0 in 2011 was impressive as was reintroducing IRS in 2015 but they just weren't enough. Now I couldn't be happier. Yes, I do miss the double brow dashboard (I owned a '67 coupe after all). However, the new interior is very much Mustang DNA.

If you know your history, it was Iacocca that approved the first-generation Mustang as well as the second. I know people like to compare the new dash as Fox Body inspired but if you look closely, you can see much of the inspiration comes from the second-generation Mustang. I am sure that thought gives some people the willies, but you would be dead wrong to think that way. I also used to think that way and then I learned better.

What's ironic and what got me into the Mustang craze to begin with wasn't due to the first generation (although it was my first car). Nope! It was this... Bobby's Angel

Yep, the '24 is pure Mustang as was the '74 before it. Now, as far as the Bunkie inspired big horse Stangs go... don't get me started!

I recently traded in my 2012 GT that I put a decent amount of money into to make it my own. I loved that car and regretted it a day or two after trading it in. But after nearly a month of owning my new S650 I am in love with the 2024. Maybe give it sometime and enjoy the new ride. All the new features are fun to play with and I am really enjoying the process of modding a new car again.

I also ordered mine and took delivery a couple of months ago. I'm pretty satisfied with the performance and ride quality of the S650.

The only 2 things I may regret from time to time:
(1) The B&O sound system leaves more to be desired. Audio sounds crisp and clear when you listen around 11 volume, but when I turn it up past 13, it just starts sounding muddy. The included subwoofer in the trunk does not give enough bass. I was coming from a 2014 Mustang that had 2 10" subs in trunk, so the drop in bass quality in the 2024 is disappointing especially considering the cost of the B&O upgrade.

(2) I sometimes wish I would've gotten a performance sedan. Those extra doors can be helpful when my wife and I want to take our big Golden Retriever for a ride.

What reasons are keeping you from liking the 24?

I think I get what the OP is saying. I've test driven 3 different versions of the '24 now(GT, GT PP1, and a DH) and they all drive just like my '18 S550. I guess I'm just looking for something different than what I had 3 years ago and each time I end up walking away feeling meh.

I didn't think the dark horse is worth the hype that's why I went with the performance with active exhaust. For the price difference, I could drop a super charger and swap the suspension for way better performance and less money. The only thing would be the trans, but I never had any issue with my 15 so IDK what people complaining about.

IDK it's kinda ineffable. It's a feeling type thing I suppose... The S550 was my first mustang, I later got a 11' GT/CS even they are both equipped with the coyote but the IRS made a big different in driving experience. From the S550 to the S650 is kinda like going from a Civic type r to a V6 accord, similar power just different. All the digital stuff over power the driving experience, you hell detached from the car even they are both Manuel if that make any sense to you. Plus, there's no tuning available, if I want more power it has to be super charged which void the warranty.... With the dark horse floating around I just don't see Ford will let tuning the S650 possible.

No doubt the S650 has more stock power and ride super smooth, but we are not from a Mercedes here lol
