I don't think PPF would have survived that impact. It works good for small stuff but after a certain size nothing will work.
Well, to give you an idea.. I have full PPF on basically every inch of mine. My friend was driving it and curbed it as he pulled into a spot, bent the front lip down and scraped the bumper against the curb... The PPF 100% saved the bumper from needing sprayed. Lip got replaced, PPF got replaced and you would never know. It shows how pliable the front lip and bumper are too. Still aligns perfectly and nothing broke. After working in body shops for quit some time, I was very impressed.
Shitty part is that piece of PPF is a large piece for most of the bumper and it cost 1400 to replace :cwl:

The picture doesn't do justice to just how bad it looked in person. It was really grinding against the curb and the PPF took all of the damage.

I have it on both my Mustangs. Also on my wifes Murano. After 10 years on my 2011 I had it redone as they have made improvements to the product. It was not fun taking the old off. On the 24 just the front grill there are 14 pieces alone. Its great stuff but it has limits. Rule number one here in AZ don't follow empty flat beds or dump trucks.

It definitely has its limits and you can see where rocks have hit it already, but I just wanted to keep the paint as nice as possible. Also, seeing that it was tough enough to shield the bumper from that, has me feeling even better about it. That is why I had it delivered straight to the detail shop. The rock chips and cracked windshields you get here in AZ are insane.

Relatively low pressure against a solid object? Sure. A decent sized sharp rock impacting the plastic cover at 75 MPH? Not so sure about that. The point of the rock when deep INTO the bumper cover ... it didn't just get pressed on it at low/no speed.

My detail guy (who did my ceramic) also does PPF. He told me in no uncertain terms that PPF would not have protected against *this* impact.

But glad your bumper is good.

Decon wash, paint correction, IGL Kenzo exterior ceramic coat (paint and plastics), IGL EcoCoat wheel ceramic coat (wheels off + calipers), Geoshield Apex nano ceramic tint (50% WS, 35% front doors, 5% rear), and Glassparency on all exterior glass.

Anybody in the metro Detroit area, reach out to Matt @ Livingston Auto Spa in Howell. Well worth the trip! Everything from ceramic coating and window tinting to interior and exterior detailing - mobile detailing, too! Lots of before and after pics and raving customer reviews on their FB page.

You are so lucky were I live (Canada)you can't tint the windshield or front side door windows. Only rear side glass and back glass. Also when I got pulled over and fined $190 for tinted side door glass. When I asked what his probable cause to pull me over was? He said you look like a drug dealer. Canada has turned into a dictator ship country. The way the US is going. Now don't get me going on the price of insurance and gas.

That law came into effect in February.

You “had your windows tinted before the law came into effect but thank you for noticing Officer. I’ll book my day off and see you in traffic court”.

Also “you looked like a drug dealer” is not reasonable grounds for a traffic stop and, depending on your colour, could be considered profiling. You could even get yourself X copper or someone like that to rep you in traffic court.

It would be nice if that was true up here. However our laws and courts don't work like yours do. We don't have the same rights you do. Also our government treats us like a dictatorship. Also I'm white and up here a white man can't even file a harassment case they just won't hear those cases. Our charter of rights was written to protect minority's from the evil white man. Then you add in the native laws and courts that only apply to natives. So yes I wish I had the rights you guys have.
