2024 Mustang GT Premium with the 6 speed manual. I have noticed that I am having difficulty achieving a smooth shift from 1st into 2nd gear. From 2nd gear up through 6th, you its perfectly smooth. Going from 1st to 2nd, the car jerks. I've tried at both high and low RPM, winding it out in 1st to a higher speed before shifting into 2nd, shifting into 2nd at a lower speed, changing the speed at which I let the clutch out, you name it.

I am no stranger to manual transmissions, but for some reason, this one is giving me some difficulties.

Mr. Ford. Kindly stop having 6-Speed transmissions in China. Especially for what was once a fairly inexpensive car which now is 60K+/-. If not America made, how about at least Korea or Japan like VW. Sheesh!😇 Nevermind me, I just had to rant. 🐎

The ONLY way I could fix it was with a Pedal Commander which allows you to remap throttle response.........WORKS GREAT and I will sell it to ya half price if interested since I went to a larger TB from Soler Performance.....it works GREAT TOO!!

There is NOTHING wrong with the Transmission Kitulu.....it's just the AGGRESSIVE and TWITCHY throttle response from Ford Software!!

OP, so rev-matching into second still results in a massive jerk? If you accelerate to 40mph in first, should be close to 6k rpm +/-. Shifting to second gear should be 4k rpm +/-. A big jerk is probably due to you either keeping the rpm too high, or letting it drop too low for your speed when releasing the clutch. Make sure theres no one around, and watch the tach during your shift. Should be able to get it pretty smooth. If the rpms are jumping during the shift and causing jerkiness, something else is awry.

Has anyone tried the "no-lift shift" capability standard on these machines?

The no lift is only available in the Dark Horse I believe.

Everything I've seen online says GT has it as well. I'm hesitant with the supercharger. lol

I’ve played with launch control a bit and honestly I think your better off without it with stock tires on asphalt it hooks at 2600 but wants to bog at 2700 you have to feather the throttle so it doesn’t just light the rears up. It’s an odd thing especially considering the launch control doesn’t like it when your not flat footed on the accelerator

Preliminary tech sheet said No-Lift included on both, but the final version excludes language around no-lift for either.

Anyone who's played with the launch control have any tips/recommendations?
I can tell you that no-lift does not work in my GT. If I keep my foot on the gas and push in the clutch, the engine keeps revving.

it’s pretty much the same with my car at least 50% of the time unless it’s above 4K rpm it’s always smooth. It’s almost like there is just a delay in clutch engagement at low speeds on 2nd gear.

Hey "highvoltage" you have described it perfectly!! ALL THREE ('14, '19, '22) of my 5.0 Mustang 6-Speeds have exhibited the same vague 1-2 Shift behavior!!

I have a feeling it's not the clutch at all but inconsistencies in throttle application with the "Drive By Wire" Puter controlled, EPA mandated crap for "Improved Fuel Economy"?? Also 1st and 2nd are fairly low and any imperfections in clutch and throttle engagement are amplified by "JERKY" acceleration!!

I bought a Pedal Commander for my 2022 car that works GREAT but it has many settings and depending on the day one was better that the other?? My BIG problem was with the Pedal Commander control box and mounting it in my clean 2022 GT interior.......it just didn't fit for me!!

Eventually I discovered Soler Performance Throttle Bodies......I bought their 90MM Controller and VOILA.........95% improvement in 1-2 Shifts!! Throttle positions are SPOT ON and there's likely a little bit of performance improvement but at 78 I'M KINDA UNPREDICTABLE........comes with the territory, ya know!!

BTW.......I have the Pedal Commander for sale and if any of you are interested PM me.......it works GREAT and will fix the vagueness in shifts when you find the right settings for you!! PM me if interested?? Also with the phone app you could hide the control box behind the dash!!

Well, damn. That might be why I haven't gotten the no-lift shift to work... I am usually shifting at around 3500 rpm or so during daily driving.
