Had to replace my right rear tire Pirelli P zero @ 2500 miles, nail was too close to the side wall. They ordered a tire all the numbers match, but the tire is different. You can see in the photos. First thing I noticed when you got on the gas, the rear end would pull to the right and when you got off the gas, it would shift back to the left ever so slight it didn’t do this before I thought the new tire had to get a few miles on it, but that’s not the case Still having the problem. Going to bring it back to Ford tomorrow. The original tire has more rubber underneath my thumb.

Did they measure the tread on the other side to see if it’d close? I assume it can cause some issues if it’s too far apart. The only thing I’ve heard related to tires is that the ones that come on new cars are usually of less quality even when compared to direct replacements. Not sure if that’s true though.

These are not grandpas standard passenger tires on his Oldsmobile. These are high performance summer tires on a high performance sports car. Nearly 3,000 miles is a significant chunk of the lifespan of a P Zero.

Unless they are within a few hundred miles of each other, you should be replacing tires in pairs (or all four). Replacing one of these while leaving a ~3K tire on the other side is not good for maintaining balanced traction and handling. Uneven wear between tires on direct opposite sides can cause a decrease in grip and performance, which leads to problems with steering, braking, and acceleration, especially in unfavorable weather.

Sh*t, I burned through the factory set of Pirelli P Zero rear tires on my '14 GT 5.0 in under 10K miles. 3K miles was nearly 1/3 of their entire lifespan!

Make sure on the side of the tire says mount to the outside. Also roadpilot is correct. That 3k miles has way more heat cycles as well as more diminished initial compound difference. You might not notice any difference if you were diving in an unperformance manor.

Probably not the best for your rear diff either. Even with an open diff, you'd be creating more action in there with mismatched circumference

Worst case scenario, move it to the front. Because the front wheels are not drive wheels, it will make less of a difference. In other words, if you can't come up with a better resolution like swapping the tire for a different one, put both of the rears in the front and the fronts in the rear, assuming you have the same size tires front and rear. That's harder to do on a all-wheel drive and definitely a No-No on a four-wheel drive but with a rear-wheel drive that should be not an issue.
