From my point of view nearly 500hp is enough. It's hard enough using that around here short of track days. And we have"boy racer" laws where the cops can impound your car for doing a burnout. They call it sustained loss of traction.
Likewise for "unecessary display of speed".
So for any"christian motoring" you have to be very watchful for cops.
If I were to need more power, I'd throw a blower on, NA tuning generally costs too many dollars per hp.
And I had great results with a Sebring blower on an MX5 years ago.
Yeah we got horrible laws where I’m at. Cops tried to get me on racing charges once cause some Karen doesn’t like loud cars

I'm torn on whether I should go and maybe sell and buy a Mach 1, s197 gt500, or switch to Chevy and go get a Corvette. I just want to know what others think.
The Vette is one of the most uncomfortable cars to sit in as far as I'm concerned. I would NEVER buy one of those as a daily.

Five months in and you’re not happy? Then that part is really easy. Boost or sell, your choice. If you choose to sell then find every other car you’re interested in and try them. A Corvette is nice but it may or may not be comfortable for you. We can’t help you with that.

A hot rod S197 for daily use after driving a S650? Most likely not. A S550 Mach 1 would be awesome and high on my list. But if you have the cash for a GT500, well that’s the holy grail!

You say you want to build things up before boost and make 500 before 700.

so, (assuming older gen) Cobra jet intake, injectors, throttle body AND cams… just to get you to 500… realistically almost 10 grand … to make 500 before you take all that off and install boost for ANOTHER 10 grand and finally make 700…

just whipple your 24… it will save you a ton of money and time.

I was thinking that too and then I remembered. For some folks it’s the destination, for others it’s the journey. To each their own. :like:

If we are talking daily driver, I would stay away from the Corvette. In defense of the Corvette, it's a super car but it has its shortcomings such as comfort, and ability to run on uneven pavement It can be an expensive car to maintain.
As for your S650 Mustang, do you want power to use or to brag about?
These cars are quick enough to scare most drivers and at the same time get them in trouble. I just watched the great video of the Ponies in the Smokies 2025 on You Tube. Most of the drivers had a difficult time keeping their cars in a straight line.
IMHO, your best bet is to do the blower. Keep in mind that the cost per mile will be high if you use the car as a daily driver. If you need 700 horsepower to get to work, you must love your job! LOL!

Good to know I’ve never been in one

The journey is definitely part of it just seeing my car slowly build up and to feel what one thing does as I reach the end product

It’s not as much about the 700 hp. I want to be able to build the car a little and if anything I want like an Ess cause they are usually on the more conservative side. And I could just be that I got the idea in my head that I don’t like it so that could be the problem when I should just go out and enjoy myself

I know this is kinda a weird topic to post, but I need opinions of people with s650's. I've had my S650 for 5 months now, and I'm still torn if I'm happy with it. I daily this car and that's one of the reasons I got it over an older Mustang, cause of the tech and the features that make it more comfortable every day. One thing I've done with cars in the past is making them faster. While I don't want 1,000+hp, I just want more out of the car, I like to build up to things before boost. Right now, I feel like all I can do is suspension and a whipple which aren't bad, but being able to make 500whp would be nice before I jump to 700+. I'm torn on whether I should go and maybe sell and buy a Mach 1, s197 gt500, or switch to Chevy and go get a Corvette. I just want to know what others think.
So far you settled on the GT vs the DH, keep settling and sell it and go buy a GM.

have you drove or had a ride along in one?
To be honest no and I’m not saying whipple is bad. I just feel like a lot of s650’s are copy and paste because the lack of parts rn. Like all boosted s650’s are a whipple till pro charger gets approved

Truer words have rarely been spoken.

Unless maybe it’s these.

Realistically, how much can you actually use where you are?
