Sorry if this is in the wrong spot - first time posting!

I bought a 2024 Mustang GT Premium, used, at 3,200 miles. The story I was given by the dealer was that the owner bought it when it first came out, and when the Dark Horse was released, immediately traded it in, so I figured I was getting a good deal. Listed at $46k.

A few months after purchasing the car in Dec 2023, I took it on a 2,000 mile road trip. After about 1,200 miles, I was stopped at a gas station to refuel. Car would not start, threw over a dozen codes, and left me stranded. I could remote start the car and as soon as I put it into drive, the motor would cut off. Thankfully, a dealer was nearby and I was able to get the car to them. They performed an update (to the ABS module?) saying that it can cause no-start conditions. Interesting, but the car has started up every time after that.

Shortly after that, I noticed that the windows were fogging up after a lot of rain. Come to find out that the carpets on both driver and passenger sides, front and back, were soaked with water. I assumed it was user-error with a wet umbrella, but even after the car sits in the rain with the windows up (I triple checked) water would still get to the interior of the car. Brought the car to the dealer to have it checked out under warranty, gave them a list of things to check out while it was there, including an annoying squeak/rattle in the dashboard.

During their investigation of this phantom noise, they found that the car was missing welds from the factory and a "texture like caulking" had been applied in place of the welds as a last-ditch effort to get the car off the factory floor. Car has been to three different body shops now for one reason or another, welding, trying to find the source of this noise, etc. Car has been welded properly, but noise remains.

I also find that the car kicks forward when you turn it on and the engine is warm, and the AC is on. The dealer isn't sure they'll be able to replicate the issue.

Who else is going through a rough time with their S650? I love love love the car, but I haven't had it for a month. It currently has 11,000 miles on it, surely it shouldn't have all these issues.

Mine's only 3 months old, but no issues like that.
Just a squeaky drivers side wiper blade.

After the car is warmed up (say you drove it to the store, parked, shopped, went back to the car) and the AC was left on, when the engine turns over, the car bucks forward a bit with a loud click.

@Corrotto28 ...... I have owned three mustangs now and never had problems anywhere near that. Of most concern to me is the welds missing. That could lead to very serious later damages. It is a unibody type vehicle and all of the pinch welds are critical. Trade it back to the dealer for a new(er) one.

The car was repaired at a dealer-favored body shop, and the welding was done there. From what the dealer thinks, this should no longer be an issue, but if there's one weld missing, who knows if there are others somewhere. Bleh!

Like with remote start or behind the wheel? I've never heard of such thing. 😬

I've replicated it with both! Dealer seems pretty perplexed about it.

The car moves in parking with the parking brake on when the engine starts? WTF???
Unless i completely misunderstood it, this is a major safety concern and you should send it back immediately. Actually you shouldn't even drive it.

Sorry you’re having that experience with the car.

I personally had the original 5.0 go out on me at ~7500 miles and got a new long clock warrantied out but that’s pretty much the only issue I’ve had with the car besides squeaks/rattles (gotta love Ford build quality).

That sounds like way too many issues for a practically new car… maybe try to trade it back in/get the dealer to buy it back like some other people were suggesting. I think most people on this forum have had pretty good luck with these cars reliability-wise so it sounds like you got unlucky (right there with you!). Might also be worth researching lemon laws in your state. Just my take! Best of luck.

I found another thread of people having issues with the car rolling forward on startup, but no fixes yet. You might be able to see what everyone else's cars have in common and go from there.

Like the others have said, you might be better off trading Christine in on another Mustang. You might also want to have someone run an OASIS report on your VIN and see what all has been done to it at Ford.

Mine just started doing this at just over 1,000 miles. I wasn't using the A/C, but it was the warmest day we had since I bought it, and the times it happened was after being parked for a short time. I've seen may posts with this issue, but no resolution. I have an appointment with my dealer this week.

Yikes, that's nuts. Sorry your having so many problems. It sounds like there were some major quality control issues with that car. I don't blame your concern. Keep us updated.
