I'm thinking of modifying a 20 - 25 Mustang for drag racing, and wondering if the myriad of wheels available would be safe for drag racing. It's for A GT or GT Premium with HPP 10 speed. Will also be installing an SC, headers, maybe X pipe, without cats, etc. typical mods for drag racing.

I don't think any stock types will hold up for dog after dig, although I prefer 20 inches for around town for an SC equipped GT. I doubt the issue wheels are forged. Plus I'm not looking for pretty. Just strong. Around 800 ponies, or more. will need strong wheels.

I'll second the WELD wheels. You'll see them on cars at every dragstrip in the USA and beyond. A WELD wheel will talk to you after a run and say is that all you have.

Going to have to look into them. Going to have to seriously research everything I'll need. Decided against an S650. ECV locked up on them. Wanted a Bullitt, but a 10 speed is better.

You're not going to hurt a wheel drag racing
I'm planning on 800+ horses, and most likely won't use it for around town. Unless it's legal. Get out of jail card may not work on this one. Imagine sure it will be loud headers, catless, and straight through. Adjustable valve exhaust might work for town though.
