One of those battery / plug in 12 volt air compressor / jack units could come in handy while out and about otherwise a set of ‘race ramps’ and a good quality low profile floor jack and four jack stands with breaker bar torque wrench and a couple sockets and you should be good to go.

However, whichever solution you end up with don’t forget the reflectors, flares, and warning markers for when out and about and attempting repairs.

Just be thankful that Ford isn't BMW who gives you the worst tire development ever made....run-flats.

As far as the lug nuts, a long 1/2 drive breaker bar and the right size socket (21mm) will do by the side of the road.
Breaker bar is a must, since the tq on the lug nuts is 150 ft. lbs, same as with F150's. I'll loosen them with breaker bar and then use impact to take off. Hand thread when going back on till all are snug, then lightly impact, finish with tq wrench. Nothing worse than cross threading a lug nut.

1/2 inch electric impact driver (will easily take lugs off) and a 19mm impact socket as well as a 1/2 inch torque wrench.
This is the info I'm looking for! Been getting my garage together after selling my S550 and getting it ready for the Dark Horse.

I've got both a 1/2" and a 3/8" KOBALT IMPACT WRENCH that I've used for a couple of years. Now I'm debating on getting an actual socket set to pair with it.

Was thinking this for the 3/8": VEVOR 3/8" Drive Impact Socket Set, 90 Piece Socket Set SAE 1/4"-3/4" and Metric 6-19mm, 6 Point Cr-Mo Alloy Steel for Auto Repair, Includes Extension Bars Universal Joint Adapter Lock Storage Case : Amazon.ca: Tools & Home Improvement

Was thinking this for the 1/2": VEVOR 1/2" Drive Impact Socket Set, 65 Piece Socket Set SAE 3/8" to 1-1/4" and Metric 10-24mm, 6 Point Cr-V Alloy Steel for Auto Repair, Easy-to-Read Size Markings, Rugged Construction, Storage Case : Amazon.ca: Tools & Home Improvement

Thoughts?

He's got some decent videos on adapters and impact wrenches but nothing I could find on sockets.

oh. i could've sworn he had something. well, just dont cheap out on them. last thing you want is a cheap impact socket shattering on you or something while you remove your lugs

He has a TON of videos but doing a search for socket I couldn't find anything. ADAPTERS sure. IMPACT WRENCHES sure, RATCHET WRENCHES sure but not anything on SOCKETS specifically.

Unless I'm missing something in the 100s of videos he has done lol

Does anyone have a set they would recommend for 1/2" impact safe SAE and METRIC with an extension or two? Not looking to run a Snap On NASCAR Pit Crew however would like to be able to swap out my own rims/tires as well as other general automotive requirements for mods etc.

These guys seem to have decent reviews....

NEIKO 02448A 1/2" Drive Master Impact Socket Set, 65 Piece, Standard SAE (3/8"-1-1/4") & Metric (10-24 mm) Sizes, Deep & Shallow Kit, Includes Adapters & Ratchet Handle, One Way Drive - Amazon Canada

But so did the Vevor kit below....

VEVOR 1/2" Drive Impact Socket Set, 65 Piece Socket Set SAE 3/8" to 1-1/4" and Metric 10-24mm, 6 Point Cr-V Alloy Steel for Auto Repair, Easy-to-Read Size Markings, Rugged Construction, Storage Case : Amazon.ca: Tools & Home Improvement

35 years in the business and I've never heard of this. Makes no sense to me.
A lot of shops now use "torque sticks", which can only be used with an impact.

Some cautionary tales about impact driving on the lug nuts yourself, OR allowing a shop to do it.

NEVER assume the shop won’t over tighten the lug nuts or not tighten them at all...

I searched but couldn’t find the epic odyssey thread where a member had multiple stripped studs on 3 of 4 wheels after a visit to a tire place. It’s there somewhere, with pictures and took the guy a weekend to repair.

This is not something you want to find out the hard way on the side of the road. It took me until my late 20’s and 2 Mustangs ago to experience this screw up first hand and it’s embarrassing and avoidable.

Impact drivers, torque sticks and what not have their places, but they shouldn’t be the only tool in the tool box.
