Seeing this configurator today makes me so happy I got my Dark Horse for under MSRP from the one dealer I could find offering one for that.
Under MSRP? I'd like to see that.

Pretty disappointing. Poor color options, no savings for going stick, B&O not included with 401a and even if you get it separate it makes you buy the Ford 360 thing too, so you don't save much at all.
MY25 Dark Horse Premium still includes the B&O. Even so, MY25 speced the same as my MY24 is $6K more. I told my wife this was going to happen. I had to justify the early adoption somehow!

Maybe I'm a lone ranger on this, but even with the price hike I would still choose Mustang over any competition.
I have mixed feelings about this. Some people may not have a choice. $5K-$10K markup is enough to push some people out of the market. Not to mention the sour feelings about such a large increase for people that wanted or needed to wait.

I have to respectfully disagree with you there. In my opinion, same car with different badges plus an extra 20 hp.
You would be wrong with that opinion.

And you're talking the official inflation, which is nowhere near the actual inflation. We had more than 100% on most things over 3 years.

But following modern economics, I won't defend Ford or any other manufacturer. It is all supply and demand. They can cry inflation and margin compression all they want. The market either pays for it or not.

I visited the nearest ford delare twice and they have 15 to 20 GT's under MSRP sitting.
I think a bit (or a bunch) of the increase has to do with the results of the UAW strike resolution from last year. Not seeing a lot of folks mentioning that...

I have not driven a Mach1, but other people that did claim that the DH is the best yet. Here is a youtube review by a guy who has driven all mustang models and his take on the DH.

Usually when an OE marks the base price up and the automatic trans becomes "no cost" what that actually means is in the near future the manual transmission is going away. Hopefully that's not the case here, but it sure makes sense. Would explain the price increase that hit GT and not EcoBoost, and it would rid them of the MT82 problems forever. Dark Horse would still get a manual trans option in the future, and any other special variants, but not the Eco/GT cars.

It wasn’t a lot and took a couple weeks of waiting, but just shopped around the entire country really. I got an offer under MSRP from a dealership out of the state and brought it to a dealership near me and in a couple weeks they called me back and agreed. Tbf, the dark horse they had had been sitting there for at least 3 months. But from what I can, that’s just the case with most 2024 models, they aren’t selling so dealers are starting to offer a lot of MSRP.

Direct impact of assembly labor and the new UAW contract is estimated to be around $600 and would have been factored in long ago. But a rising tide raises all boats and the suppliers, whether union or not, are facing higher labor costs. Materials inflation, transportation costs (logistics), energy costs and almost anything you can imagine is up as much or more.

Unions are not my favorite by any stretch but shouldn't bear a disproportionate amount of blame. A non-union factory has to keep up to compete for labor.

And overnight the Mustang's USP is gone...

For what it's worth, I did a small amount of searching and found a real photo example of Molten Magenta on Ford's website: https://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/features/design/

The shade is much darker than Rapid Red, looks to be akin to the skin of an apple:

I agree with others; this color would pair well with the bronze appearance package.

Still sour about the price, but at least the color looks good. I'll reserve final judgement until I see one in person.

I don't know, that looks like a Photoshop job to me. But I'm hopeful the color will look good in person.

Good find. It looks quite purple there, which I like. (It's not at all purple in the CG render on the configurator, but I'd think this photo is probably a better representation than the configurator, even if it is artificial)

There's this one, too:
