Is there an error in the diagram? I think so.
I found something that is making me very confused.
The wire diagram of the left side mirror named connector C520 shows something weird.
As you can see in the diagram, there are 3 different side mirrors:
1. Mirror with Memory
2. Mirror without Memory
3. Right Hand Drive Mustangs
From now on, I'm going to ignore number 3, the right hand drive Mustangs, because that's information we don't need in this research.
If you look at where the turn signal power is coming from, it says SLOT 3.
If you look at SLOT 3, there is some confusion and I think there in an error in the diagram.
1. Mirror with memory it says the cable is Green-Brown
2. Mirror without memory it says the cable is Grey-Orange
I have a side mirror on my car that doesn't have turn signals.
This means the cable in SLOT 3 should be Grey-Orange. But in fact my cable in slot 3 is RED.
I have bought a side mirror that has turn signals.
This means the cable in SLOT 3 should be Green-Brown. But in fact the cable in slot 3 is RED also.
This means the wire diagrams are not correct and that the cable colors are different than what the diagram says. @roket also confirmed that the wire colors are not correct.
But how to identify the turn signal cable? Well, it should still be slot 3 right?
In this case the RED cable is in SLOT 3, so the RED cable should be the turn signal wire.
Well.. the confusion is going to get worse..
My side mirror without turn signals already have a cable in SLOT 3.
Why would I have a cable in SLOT 3 if I don't have turn signals? Pre-wired you would say right?
This insinuates that you only have to add the turn signal units and mirror caps to make this to work and you don't even need a whole new side mirror, if this is the case.
But this is not the case. I compared both side mirrors with and without turn signal with each other and I found out that a wire in SLOT 4 is missing on the side mirrors without turn signals.
On the side mirrors with turn signal, SLOT 4 is wired with a ORANGE cable.
If you look at the diagram, you can see that SLOT 4 is used for power mirrors.
So why is SLOT 4 not used in the side mirror without turn signals?
The side mirrors without turn signals also have the power mirror function.
So I came to the conclusion that the wire colors and the description of the used SLOTS in the diagram are both not correct.
Orange is also a cable that is mostly used for turn signals. And it is a very big coincidence that SLOT 4 has an orange cable in it on the side mirrors with turn signals while the side mirrors without turn signals don't have any wire connected in SLOT 4.
@Sofa King You also mentioned PIN 3 is the turn signal. Can you solve this mystery please?
