They can sound okay. But most of them do not. And the old 4.6/5.0 sounded much better.

I don't know who this guy is so I'm not picking on him it's just one of the first hits on Youtube (and if you're on here don't get your panties in a bunch).

This car sounds like total shit. Just loud and obnoxious. And the annoying ass cold starts on these engines don't help either...

LOL that does sound awful. I don't like the 130 decible raspy sound either. I dont like how X pipes sound on the 5.0 in general. And I agree with you the 4.6 might be one of the best sounding exhaust notes of all time.

Generally speaking though stock for stock the 5.0 performance exhaust sounds better to me than the M2 or my C8 to be honest.

Doesn't sound that bad.

plus it's not like most opened up Coyotes sound great anyway
Didnt sound bad at low rpms(just a little bassy). At higher revs the s58 gets very raspy. Single large midpipe helps it. However, you always feel like trying to fix something that cant be fixed.
Inline six cilinder sound good when na(a v12 is basically 2 inline 6 together), decent with single turbo, bad with twins(basically sounding like a turbo 3 cilinder).

I've never owned a Bemmer, and I never will. Yes they go like stink (as long as any E32 can!), but they're one of the priciest vehicles to own. It is bad enough paying $125 for an oil and filter on my Ranger, but $500+ on a Bimmer? No chance Sherlock!!

Oh! BMW has used the same signature grill (with variations) since the early 50s. The latest iteration in my opinion, is almost as ugly as the front end of most Toyota products.

Erstklassig, nicht!

Oil changes don't cost $500. In fact the 1st 4 yrs they are free. You can get it done for around $150 or do it yourself

Does BMW have annual (and alternating) Service A/B like Mercedes?

They have a scheduled maintenance for each model. Some things are pretty ridiculous like oil change every 10,000 miles. I couldnt wait that long and did one every 5k paying for the extra one out of my pocket. Dealer charged me $300 per oil change. Indy shop $200. Mercedes also recommends changing oil every 10k miles but dealer charged me $500 for each extra oil change (for a 2.0l 4 banger 🤯). Bmw "includes" maintenance for 3 years but with limitations like this.

If you DIY, maintaining (not repairing) a daily driven BMW is about the same cost of any other car.

The challenges are cost for major items, factory diagnostic software (ISTA), and special tools. Those items really drive up the cost of owning a BMW long term.

If all you want is to drag race yeah the Model 3 is fast. Not sure how long they can drive on a track or anything EVs get hot pretty quick.

In a straight line acceleration test, sure. But what skilled driver is buying a G87 M2 or DH just to drive in a straight line. Most EVs wouldn't even last a few laps on a track without significant performance/endurance compromises, let alone a track day.

In fact, EVs are prohibited at most East Coast tracks to the fire risk/damage they end up causing. They pretty much can't be put out and the temperature of their fires will damage the track to the point of having to cancel the rest of the event at that particular track.

Yes, you get the first year or two oil changes for free.... If you pay for them! Don't kid me about this issue, as my son-in-law worked for BMW. Sounds good on paper, but in reality, squat!

The biggest downside of an EV to me is lack of charging stations where I live and how long a charge takes.

I wouldn't drive one for a track day but if charging wasn't such a pain in the ass I'd consider one as a daily.
