It looks like my Mustang order is going to be built if at all late in the summer, and I needed the car by mid July in order to break it in and get it moved to Florida for the winter.

So I am THIS close for asking for my deposit back as the car is not scheduled and the dealer said 90 days to get it, and that would have been mid July.... and from the looks of things with people having their June production dates moved into late July I'm on the wrong end of things

There is ONE car that meets my criteria within 100 miles of me but it is a Job 1 car that has been sitting on the dealers lot outside of Boston for months. I don't want a car with 6 months of dirt in the paint as this car is going to be a garage queen cruise night car with a Whipple on it. I want a fresh build for my base to build on.

There is only one other car that is close, with a bunch of options I don't want, again same dealer, really early Job 1 car that has been sitting since last year. It is also about $8K more.

For $8K more plus the Whipple I am well into a nice used C7 or entry level C8.

My neighbor here in FL, the one I got my 94 C4 from has a 2013 Z06 with 3200 miles on it I can have for $35K. That is a lot of car for the money.

I'll give Ford 2 weeks to come up with a production date or I'm pulling the plug.

Even if I don't go for the Vette, at this point I'd be better off waiting for a 2025 Mustang if the delivery date slides past July.

PS if you ever have to work on a C8, they are REALLY REALLY fussy about lift points, and more than a few have flipped off the back of a 4 post lift when the arms were in the wrong place and the lifting adapters were not used.

Another neighbor lost his C8 that way, some lube rack monkey screwed up. The dealer had to replace the 2022 with a 2024 at no cost.

Make sure your neighbor has addressed the valve issue because if the LS7 drops a valve and self destructs you cant get them new anymore....Otherwise 35K for a 2013 Z06 with low miles , possibly too low miles as the seals will be possibly dry and costly to replace , sounds tempting...

He’s not lying about the issues with the heads…

I had a c5 z06 and it was the valve springs on that car… my one time I went for something other then Ford …

was a fun car but very cheaply built

At least the heads and springs are dead simple to replace on those

Im kind of curious to see what happens to Hellcat prices in the future.......sweet cars but they built like a million of them.....also....the driving dynamics....

No doubt they are absolutely a monster at the strip....but on the street/ unprepared surface they have a hard time putting down the power....not as enjoyable in my eyes just spinning tires....

I have a really good buddy with one and on a 15 to 70 roll I pretty much stay right next to them ...my front bumper might be at the front of their door.... on a non prep street in Mexico that is....and my car is definitely not a straight line car......
Let me guess, your buddy doesn't have drag radials?

I had also a C5 Z06…IMHO still the best looking Vette and more fun to drive than the C6Z06 because of shorter gearing and better traction…But the cheap interior was a let down especially the squeaks and rattles…

I agree...exterior wise...that car just worked.... just beautiful car.... I also drove a C6 Z06 and I agree...while in the higher speeds the C6 Z06 was definitely faster....just between the traction and the short gearing...i preferred the C5 Z06 also .....

If it wasnt for that horrible interior I probably would still own it today.... I have seen Fisher Price toys with higher quality plastics.....

Holy crap....I just realized I think this is the 3rd or 4th post I have agreed with you lol

Agreeing with me…You must be a horrible person…LOL I would have liked the C6 Z06 too if it had not been for the ticking time bomb under the hood that in true GM fashion never got fixed because even 2014-15 Z/28 had the same problem as also the car tried to kill you in rain or when you pushed it on track…Sudden snap oversteer is not your friend…Often less is more C5 Z05 but the interior felt like driving in a garbage can with rattles that drove you crazy…But the rattles were part of the C6 and C7 too….No problem at all for the fanbois…I am done with GM for good !
