Tortugas is on its way to Pt Kembla!!!!

It will be interesting to discover if there will be another hold-up with Customs quarantining the cars for weeks due to the great Baltimore spider invasion.

If so Pt Kembla and Melb' will probably get the same delays.

Ah, the old Union Christmas strike disruption ("Negotiation") strikes again!

Qube Ports include Vehicle handling, so we will definitely be affected. Ports - Qube

"Strikes at major Australian ports are set to continue in an ongoing dispute between unionised workers and Qube Ports over contract negotiations.

Work stoppages will take place in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Gladstone, Melbourne, and Port Kembla.

On Monday, union members went on strike at 10 ports around the country for a day, but they have been sporadically conducting lower-level industrial action throughout Australia since September.

Upcoming industrial actions will affect ports handling bulk goods, including grains, steel, and machinery. Additionally, all participating port workers plan to stage eight-hour stoppages when vessels berth.

Update on Tortugas & Tosca - delays affecting NSW, Vic, SA & WA deliveries – Scheduled DELAYS due to Quarantine (Spider infestation) & Union Industrial Action / Strikes –

Although, now off Gosford, steaming to Pt Kembla, the scheduled Pt Kembla (NSW) arrival / Birthing for Tortugas is now delayed to 18/01/25 from 05/01/25

Tosca is still anchored off Wollongong awaiting birthing, now scheduled for 17/01/25

Yes the new is not good, and that is before Quarantine Inspection for the dreaded Illegal Immigrant Spiders! We will be lucky to get our cars by the end of Jan!

Parsifal has been meandering off the coast of Sth Africa for about 4 days now.

Supposed to be in Pt Kembla on 29/1 but that is looking unlikely now.

Mine was caught up in quarantine in Nov. at the time had no idea of its status or how long clearance would take.

Might be indicative, mine docked 19-Nov & left Pt Kembla 05-Dec, so around 2.5 weeks to be released

So apparently the Tortugas is on its way to New Castle. Wonder what's going on.....will they unload cars there or will they return to Kembla around the 18th to unload?

I noticed that as well - its weird, it sailed past Newcastle only to do a u turn to go back, and the destination changed from Pt Kembla to Newcastle.

It could be an oversight or mechanical problems - or the Captains wife wants to drop off his Lunch ?

Tosca has now joined Tortugas, anchored off The Entrance, awaiting entry to Newcastle. Could this be a change of plan to bypass Pt Kembla for the Car offloads ?

Tosca and Tortugas are still anchored off The Entrance / Gosford, awaiting entry to Newcastle, however they are not yet listed on the Port of Newcastle Vessel movement listing which goes out to 15/01/25. Quite the mystery! Daily Vessel Movements | Port Authority New South Wales
