Maybe I'm a lone ranger on this, but even with the price hike I would still choose Mustang over any competition. To me, it's a sexier car with smoother lines than the competition. I'm not a Corvette guy. Never will be. I cross shopped the Nissan Z when I bought my car. Only one I would consider is the NISMO version, but no manual trans in that one so no option for me. I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on my GT. No regrets. Plus, does anyone get tired of that Coyote sound? I know we are all appalled by the changes/price increase, and I agree Ford took away more than they gave for 2025. Still, it's a great car and at least it is still in production. Long live the Mustang!
I agree with you, love my car but it's not priced right now.

A 2025 Dark Horse now costs $9.5K more than my 2024 build. If I don't get a VIN the next two weeks for a 2024 then this would all be for nothing. Not going to pay another $10K for the same car I've been waiting on the last 18 months.

Now I've been told Ford will help me out of they roll me over to a 2025 MY, but if they can't honor my 2024 price INCLUDING the $2,000 credit they offered me because of the prolonged wait, then they can try selling this overpriced vehicle to some other sucker.

Imagine the markups on a 2025 Dark Horse with AP, HP, and a 6-speed. Some dealers will be asking 100K for these cars. Pure insanity.

Saved yourself the headache of the nismo with classic nissan fuel starvation issues. Apparently even worse this generation than the previous z generations

Seriously that's insane! That's big money for Mustang that used to be an affordable performance car. DH or not, Im not wealthy by any means, but it used to be a market for someone looking for a performance car. It's literally the same car, makes no sense. Hope you get taken care of, Ford owes you for waiting that long dear God.

I think this is the thing that would rub me the wrong way if I was waiting for the 25 or stuck with my previous 24 order. There's literally zero improvement in performance. Makes absolutely no sense to charge more for literally the exact same engine, chassis, and overall package. It's even more than inflation, so that argument is out the window.

This should get the 2024 dealer inventory moving pretty quick.
I drove 2 and half hours to get mine got a killer deal. Good luck moving the 2025 cars, then Ford will kill it when they don't sell. They are putting a Ev Capri out there lmao

Respectfully, I disagree with most of what you said.

I love the way the S650 looks. The car has some pretty outstanding road presence and I can pick it out easily amongst a large group of cars. That said, the GT has ascended into Dark Horse price levels, and that's not where it should be for what you're getting.

Other than Molten Magenta the color selection is abysmal. Don't get me wrong, I like the color options but there's nothing else interesting in the MY25 palate. Combine this with the loss of GB brake calipers and I'm really beginning to wonder WTF Ford is doing. They started off on a decent foot and seem to have kicked their shoes in the air.

For a 70,000 GT, the car should be outperforming cars that are being cross-shopped amongst its customers. This means the M2, Z, and Supra. Of those three cars, 1 of them is a real threat to the Mustang and evidently makes more power at the wheels. All three of them are lighter by a decent margin.

For an 80,000 Dark Horse it should be, and looks to be, competing with the M4 - but only on the performance sheets, and even then it's losing. As far as other aspects, we can start by saying that this car is not worth 80,000 on the interior.

For both those numbers, we should have been presented a lot more than an S550 reskin. If we had received the new platform as was originally rumored way back when, with a drop in weight and an extra 50 HP on top of what we're seeing now, it would have been justifiable. The motor is capable of handling 550hp clearly; both Whipple and Roush were able to get more than 800 out of it with only a supercharger. So what is the 4th Gen Coyote really capable of in N/A form?

I'm not taking away the fact that the S650 is a great car, I'm simply saying that Ford has overvalued it.

Given that this seems to be, or is becoming, the trend across the board of Ford's lineup (the Escape has seen a lot more features dropped and a price hike for 2025 as well) here are a few reasons that pop into my mind when I see this happening:
  • Ford suspects economic instability in the coming years, and as a result are less willing to invest money in other vehicle options. They're playing it safe by widening their profit margins to create a cushion to brace against.
  • Ford bit off more than it can chew with the GTD and is making consumers eat the remaining investment cost by hiking prices and dropping features across the board.
  • Alternatively, Ford went all-in on EVs, which imploded spectacularly in the beginning of this year, and is looking to control losses elsewhere.
  • Something is coming to the Mustang lineup that they have chosen not to disclose yet. Whether that's other options, a whole new trim, or both, is to be seen.
  • Material costs have suddenly shot way up, and Ford is no longer able to sell the Mustang at the previous prices and remain profitable.
I'm curious to know if I've hit the nail on the head or completely missed the mark. I don't want to assume yet that it's greed and only greed that has taken Ford in this direction. That all is to say, the Mustang is exiting the "value" cost bracket and is simultaneously giving us less reason to compare it to cars in a similar price range.

You would not believe the lengths I had to go through just to find a Dark Horse at MSRP on the entire west coast. I was starting to look at shipping a Dark Horse from across the country before someone came back to me with an good deal and luckily even took some off MSRP for me

Well said, the Epa has shut down the tuner market. That's another story. I work in the autobody industry, for example a 2021 Corolla Se mild hit in the front. Front cover cheap, 137.00, add in the grills, crash avoidance, and if you need a headlight. It climbs really quick. All this is supposed to lower insurance? Not, it's become a nightmare. Nevermind good luck finding a good shop who can do the work. The dealerships have no clue how to fix anything on new cars. But yes you hit the nail on the head on some of the issues.

You were right on everything, but i think you should be able to readily assume it's greed as well. Ford knows they're the only market in town for "affordable" American V8.

Buy a low mileage used mustang, financing aside. Depends, 2025 mustang will be dead in the water. Excuse to change it up. We can all see the writing on the wall.

Hm, what made option made it jump that high? 🤔 Mine would be like 5k more. I got everything I could on the gt fastback, except the red seat belt lol
Same specs as my build. Of course the B&O now is a stand alone, kind of, and the paint is a different shade, but still an added cost. My build was just about exactly 60K, 67.7K for MY 2025.

If you think they're going to change up the mustang in two years (besides the traditional refresh), then you're crazy lol Takes years just to develop it. They're coming up with ideas for the next one and that won't be seen for probably another five years.
