How you guys are getting like 24-26 MPG is astonishing. Maybe I need to reset my MPG, but with 93 I’m stuck at a solid 13.9.
Well if you never, ever take your foot off the gas pedal that’s understandable. But in normal day to day driving you should be getting more. You didn’t mention how many miles you have on the car.

5800 miles. And I mean. I do. I put it on cruise control @ like 70 ish mph. But I guess slightly inclines don’t let the car coast, but rather keep the throttle open.

On the highway at 70-75 I’m getting high 20’s. Around town low 20’s and getting on occasionally high teens.

Average speed of 46mph tells you all you need to know
And, I took the picture because it was noteworthy :)

Normal driving, not just highway cruising, I am getting around 19-20.

The milage one gets is highly dependent on the actual commute statistics. For example, my 2006 Ridgeline (I owned it for 13 model years) got 14.5 in town, and 20 on the highway, no matter the driving conditions. My 2019 Ranger gets 18 in "MY" in-town driving cycle. The 2024 Eco-Boost gets 18.5 in the exact driving cycle! It is rated 22! On the highway, the Ranger gets 23 if you keep under 70 mph. My Eco-Boost was driven from Los Cruces, to Roswell, nm. It had 283 mile in the OD when I got it. The dash read 24.6 with mixed mountain and flat land driving by an unknown driver (rated 33!). When I did commute (Denver, area) my 1998 Mercury Sports Mystique got almost 25 (it was rated 28), but the drive was 26 miles each way, and almost all on the Interstate.

All of this doesn't surprise me, but what does is the methodology the EPA uses to set the CAFE and/or compute what any given model will get? Those guys must have a hair stuck up someplace on their body, because I've never gotten within 20% of what they calculate! Maybe it is a conspiracy formulated by ETs?

I only use 93. The first tank of gas in my car was 87 from the cheap dealership. Regardless of performance I just want to give my car what's best for it. I look at it like my own body, would I want to put cheap fast food in it all the time or put better quality food in it majority of the time? Just my opinion though

I get 19.1-19.6mpg consistently, 10k miles and all I use is 93. My 18 averaged 24mpg, the wife's 2020 averages 24-27mpg.

Another octane thread??

I definitely can get on it from time to time, but 87 is just fine for my average 37mph back and forth to work.
