Anyone have an opinion on this buddy blowers...I know they aren't the best but Repco has them on clearance for $69 so was thinking of giving one a go.

Bigboi BlowR Buddi Drying System - BLOWRBUDDI - Air Dryer | Repco Australia

I think it might be the older model...but still $69....hmmmm
They are ok, but will take longer to do the job on a whole car. For blowing out mirrors, door handles, door jambs, wheels, they are a workable solution.

I used an 18v Makita jobsite blower for quite a while, I could blow the car down on a single 5.0ah battery, including the door jambs.

I don't have a review of multiple foam cannons, but I can steer you in the right direction.

Now, at this point I will highlight there are countless foam cannons on the market, from $10 Amazon specials right through to the premium end above $100. Now, those $10 foam cannons work, but the limiting factor is "for how long". The cannister quality is not there, and replacements will not often be available. You also won't have direct access to spare parts like the filter (which creates the foam). This is not to say, "buy the most expensive", just shop smart.

Also, I don't advocate buying MJJC Foam Cannons. These have got a lot of traction over the last couple of years, mainly because of how expensive the MTM stuff is. But, the plastic they (and many other foam cannons) use for the bottle is not HDPE, meaning it degrades quickly and is prone to shattering. No one would intend on dropping their foam cannon, but mistakes happen and I remember watching a comparison where several foam cannons were dropped, the non-HDPE bottles all broke. It also seems clear bottles are not made from HDPE either.

There two main foam cannons that sit right at the top of the tree.

The Griots Boss Foam Cannon is arguably the best on the market. Last time I looked, the $99 USD turned into over $220 AUD by the time it was landed in Australia. However, I now see these are available on Amazon AU for $162. The main benefit of the Griots is the metering tips that can mean you don't need to dilute the soap, the foam cannon will do it for you. Actually, you can screw the cannon onto a bottle of soap.

The MTM PF22.2 is what I have been using for more than 4 years now. You might have thought the $162 for the Griots was expensive, but the MTM is about the same price give or take a few dollars. The main thing I like about the MTM is that it seems to use less soap without compromising foam quality. Like the Griots, spare parts are available, as well as spare/extra bottles so you can dedicate bottles to certain products. The MTM is available from multiple vendors locally, most stocking spares as well. If you do go this way, make sure its the updated version with the wide-mouth bottle and weighted filter straw.

it might look like I'm just promoting Detailing Shed here, but they have put in the legwork for the Aussie market and offer the most comprehensive spares and supporting fittings/parts. You will note that in those links, there are options to adapt to various pressure washers, in your case chose the Karcher adaptor, which will work with the standard Karcher gun. You can also upgrade to an aftermarket gun like the SGS28 or a foam cannon/gun kit, but if you still wanted to keep the standard gun, there are also adaptors to convert it to quick connect for that as well. I can advise on that if you need.

S650 Mustang Aussie S650 Paint protection and detailing thread IMG_E1320

As for a written review, I have this on the updated MTM here -
Updated MTM PF22.2 Foam Cannon | 2015+ S550 Mustang Forum (GT, EcoBoost, GT350, GT500, Bullitt, Mach 1) - Mustang6G.com

And a demo by yours truly (still using the older bottle design in that video).....................

Now, I know the cost of those two are up there, if you wanted something a little cheaper, check out the following. Again, you would need the Karcher adaptors. I'd probably avoid the Bowden's version as I have heard of multiple bottle failures around the threads. From below, the Meg's one is currently on sale, or the Autoglym from Waxit.

If you want to save even more, or get a better deal on the MTM, I'd be waiting till the Black Friday sales, Waxit's will go live on the 18th of November and should give you a decent saving on the MTM.

Hey @DFB5.0 did my 1st wash today using the mtm and the karcher k2 and what I'm realising is the karcher bayonet connector and the standard hose are a PITA to work with lol. The Karcher hose kinks all the time and connecting/disconnecting things from the gun are a PITA lol.

So if I want to upgrade the K2 with another hose that is longer and doesn't kink can I use something like this? Do I need additional connectors to connect it to a Karcher?

or maybe its cheaper getting a new pressure washer lol

My Karcher K5 motor has gone to heaven sigh. So I purchased a Giraffe G20 and mounted it on the wall between my garage doors. Had my first run with it over the weekend, its ok, the retractable line is nice thing to have.

Adding an aftermarket hose and gun will transform the user experience of any pressure washer. It will also allow you to shift the balance away from peak pressure for cleaning hard surfaces to a more flow orientated setup............................flow is what does the work when it comes to car washing not peak pressure. It can be hard to convey that to someone against using a pressure washer for car cleaning duties, that we are using the machine to boost water flow, not blasting the paint with ultra-high pressure water.

Hoses -

Typically, you will have the choice of 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch hoses for pressure washing. While I run a 3/8 hose, a 1/4 hose is easier to manage. Important to note you will still get some hose bind when going aftermarket, but nowhere near the horrible ultra-hard OEM hoses that have no give to them. An aftermarket gun with a live swivel helps mitigate this too.

In terms of length, you want at least 15-metres/50-feet. Anything less is a waste of time and money. At 15-metres, you won't need to move the pressure washer as you work around the car.

The Pro-Pulse/Uber Flex hoses are a nice upgrade offered at an agreeable price. You other option would be to go with a 3/8 MTM Cobra Jet, but I'd stick with 1/4-inch hose on a K2.

ProPulse Uberflex 1/4" Pressure Washer Hose – Waxit Car Care

Gun & Wand -

I know you can get a short gun on Amazon for less, but they are junk. Considering the pressure involved here, going cheap on this part doesn't make sense. For that reason, I would be looking at Mosmatic or MTM.

I have the OG-spec Mosmatic gun with the integrated live swivel for less bulk at the hose connection. But....................................its very expensive. I also ran an MTM SGS 28 for a while, most people will prefer the SGS 28 for its smoother progressive trigger action.

Obsessed Garage OG Spec Mosmatic Swiveling Sprayer - Detailing Shed
MTM SGS28 Gun for Professional Car Detailing - Detailing Shed

A wand attachment is not essential, but nice to have. Again, I have the OG-spec Mosmatic. I also ran the MTM version, but I didn't like the plastic handle grip, not especially comfortable. If you wanted to bring down the cost, the DS-spec Mosmatic is nice too.

Mosmatic Premium Bent Lance OG Spec with Durable Design - Detailing Shed
Mosmatic Premium Bent Lance DS Spec - Detailing Shed
Stainless Steel Spray Lance for Foam Gun - Detailing Shed

Nozzles -

Keep in mind that you will also need nozzle tips for the short gun/wand. It's important to chose the correct orifice or you risk overworking the machine. For a Karcher K2, you would use the 3.0 orifice, as shown in the link below. Make sure you chose the orifice size when ordering, or specify it in the order notes.
The Pressure Washer Spreadsheet

The biggest question here is how or where to buy all this from. Waxit seem to offer the easiest end-to-end solution by bundling all of this together.

This kit will have you sorted, it also includes the 3.0 nozzle orifices and adaptor fittings to pair with a K-series Karcher. Sold out at the moment though.
Waxit Recommended Pressure Washer Upgrade Kit - Karcher K – Waxit Car Care

There are a couple of reasons why I would probably go a different route here. While the gun has a swivel, it's not fitted by MTM as Waxit seem to be buying the basic (un-fitted) SG-28 and fitting cheaper non-MTM swivels and quick connect fittings. And as mentioned, I'm not in love with that wand.

I know you will pay a bit more, but I would make two separate orders to get the exact spec -

MTM Pressure Washer Nozzle – Waxit Car Care (Advanced, sold out)

Wand (Optional) -
Mosmatic Premium Bent Lance DS Spec - Detailing Shed
Mosmatic Premium Bent Lance OG Spec with Durable Design - Detailing Shed

I know that's a lot, it sounds more complicated than it is. You easiest bet would be to wait for the Waxit kit to be back in stock.

As for cheaper buying a new machine, not necessarily because you still need all these parts and pieces to make it work as it should. All of this stuff can be transferred to a new machine in the future.

GYEON Q2M Cure - I actually really like Cure, the ADS equivalent would be their Ceramic Spray Sealant. However, Amplify would be a fine substitute, to the point where ADS use it in the same way as Cure.
Hey DFB can you use Cure and then Amplify on top or is that complete overkill. I have a bottle of Cure and Amplify and just working out the best way to use it.

You can absolutely do that. Cure is more substantial than Amplify, so the concept is, the most protective first, then layer with the least protective next. Actually, Amplify is pretty good on its own, but nothing wrong with using both.

My latest article went live on the Detailing Shed website today.

https://detailingshed.com.au/blogs/articles/how-to-protect-a-brand-new-mustang

The idea here was to highlight how the range of Armour Detail Supply products could be used on a brand-new car. In other words, an end-to-end solution from the tyres up.

Obviously, it's all about selling product in these articles, but I specifically singled out those products because I wanted them on the car, they were all paid for by me.

And while on the Detailing Shed topic, I squeezed in a final order before they close up for a few weeks.

I said I wouldn't be ordering GSF again due to the cost here, but here we are.

The Wide Open was ordered out of curiosity.

You know it's serious when I order a gallon of something! After first trying Amplify, I knew within seconds that this stuff was a winner. That first bottle went pretty quickly, which was replaced by another two 473ml bottles. While I could have jumped to the gallon size, I've been bitten in the past ordering a gallon of something without enough miles behind it, then being lumped with a product that didn't live up to the first impressions.

S650 Mustang Aussie S650 Paint protection and detailing thread IMG-1206

My recommendation here is to always, where possible, buy the small bottle of a product first. Actually, I broke that rule myself recently, now I have a gallon of a VERY expensive product that appears to be simply unsuited to the Australia climate.

Amplify has now proven to be my go-to drying aid of late. No doubt, something will come along in the future that will better it, but it will need to be a VERY stellar product to better Amplify.

With that hose, you will need one of these to fit the pressure washer end -

Then a 3/8 male thread coupler which will screw into the other end of the hose and connect to the new gun (you need the M22 14mm for that hose) -

When you make these connections, you will need thread tape or blue Loctite, and do them up FIRM!

Ok, so that should un-screw from the silver part of the Karcher adaptor. You might need to fight it, I not sure if Waxit use Loctite or not, I know Detailing Shed do. You will need two wrenches, lay it on a flat surface and twist in apposing directions.
