Base Dark Horse vs GT Premium PP W/Magride.

Hey y’all, I’m in the researching and testing phase for an S650. It’s hard to find a car to test where I am.

Question:
Has anyone driven a base Dark Horse and a GTPremium PP with MagRide?
Is the MagRide essentially the same?
Or is there differences in your experiences?

I prefer the GT front end a bit more but you can usually get a nice discount on a GT, over a DH.

Upgrading my wife’s 2016 S550 V6.

The base Dark Horse comes with Magneride.
The Handling Pack Dark Horse has a more aggressive calibration for track focused magneride.

If price is your constraining factor, go with the GT / PP and slap some go fast parts on it.

OP - Have you decided on what the car is going to be used for primarily? If you never intend on getting on a road course with it or decide to push it to 8/10th's or higher, a GT/PP is more than enough car.

The biggest factor, IMHO, is the transmission. If you're going with the 10A, you may as well stick with the GT/PP. If you want to row your own, the 6M in the DH is a better choice vs the GT because it gives you an extra gear to play with; 1 overdrive gear vs 2 in the GT. Tighter ratios and better gearing make it more lively from the seat of your pants. Both get mauled by the 10A, though.

Suspension is kind of a wash when comparing magneride. Both models have excellent settings for just putting around town or going for spirited drives.

Also, like you mentioned...you can get a lot of money off of a GT/PP (and better rates) vs buying a DH.

I also got the GT premium with the performance package, magneride, and active exhaust because I liked the front end better. Both look good though!

Ok, go for the DH. Ours is the grocery getter so what your intended purpose is just internet crap. Much more car, engine is built stronger and btw, manual is the only way to go.

While awaiting ours (forever) a pretty cool GT came into the dealer, so glad I had the stamina to wait it out.

It's true...some people put around in million dollar supercars just to go to the grocery store. I'll never understand it. But hey...people can do what they want.

That's just logic vs feelings... 😂

Some people have an income that we can not comprehend....to them buying a million dollar supercar is like one of us buying a Mustang GT 301A ......around here I see wives daily driving those 300K Lamborghini SUVs and G Wagons all the time...

I have supercar friends and have hung out with their supercar clubs- most are super nice guys (but there are some douchbag supercar clubs too) - but....this was a real conversation a guy was having with me- he had ordered two Ferraris and was complaining that one of them was coming earlier then expected so now coming in the same month- and he was bitching over which one to take because he didnt have the extra cash to pay for 2 700K cars in the same 6 month period and couldnt decide which one to keep - he was hoping they would come a year apart... so he was asking me which one I would take - he seemed genuinely interested in my opinion ended up talking with him for an hour about kids marriage life exc.... funny because so many similarities....but so many differences lol

Thank y'all for the comments!
Car will be our everything car lol. Road trips, daily, tail of the dragon, FIRM (track here in N Florida).

I do like the DarkHorse, I need to test it, finding one is difficult for some reason. lol. Driven a PP car and loved the stiffness of the car.
