I just bought a 2024 GT Premium Automatic... 400 miles on it as of today. I have seen a few other threads talking about a brake noise, or a brake creak, but nothing seems to be the sound that I am hearing.

Here's what I have noticed:
  • Braking performance is not affected in any way.
  • It does it when the car is running or not running.
  • Sometimes it's louder, sometimes it's softer.
  • It has happened from day one (although you never hear these things on a test drive).
  • I don't think it's from the brake pedal itself, meaning, I don't think I could oil or grease anything and it would go away.
  • It sounds like something is being actuated... or activated... and it happens when you get off of the brake pedal, too.
  • It even happens when the car brakes on its own, when I'm not physically pushing the pedal with my foot.
  • And, you can actually "feel" it, too. That's hard to explain, but even with the radio on and quite loud, I know it's happening.
Anybody else hear this? Any other Mustang I've owned (there have been a lot) has not made any noise like this. It's pretty annoying and I find myself listening for it every time I hit the brake pedal.

Thanks for any help!

Sounds like a loud master cylinder to me. Dealer might replace it, won't hurt to ask.

That sounds like the bushing in the pedal's mounting. That you can lube sparingly with some silicon oil. I wouldn't use 3in1 or any other petroleum-based product.

I’ve been having some random brake noise issues. Sometimes it sounds like a whooshing noise and sometimes it clicks like this. It’s random and usually starts doing one of them after being driven for a while.

@Pmamba I can hear the swoosh on yours behind the other noise, which sounds like a "creaking".

Mine doesn't do that... at least not yet. The "swoosh" happens every time I press the brake pedal.

@Alan Applegate Another thing to add - if "auto hold" is engaged and I press the brake, the "swoosh" doesn't happen (but the brake is still moving as I press it), so I think that eliminates needing any lube. Nor does it happen when I release the brake if auto hold is engaged.

I have the PP Brembo brakes and they don't do that.

If it only has 400 miles on it take to the dealer. Let them fix it.
Our 2024 GT Premium with about 2300 miles on it the Brakes have never made any noise?
I made the purchase on May 17, 2024.
Good Luck 🍀

I definitely will... just wanted to see if anybody else heard the same thing.

It definitely isn't a bushing. Today while driving, I let the car stop and go by itself. You can hear the same noise when the car gets on and off of the brake (without me touching anything).

Plus, I tested it during "auto hold" again. While the car is being held in position, I can push the brake pedal as much as I want and there is NO sound. However, when I touch the gas to tell the car to go again, you can hear it as the car itself releases the brake.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

I've got the same exact issue. Did you ever find out what was the cause? Only have 1000 miles on it?

Mine does sound like that sometimes but not very often. I haven't been concerned about it.

Finally! Somebody understands. Can you post a video of you lightly (with your hand) pushing down the pedal?

I slowly push it (and “swoosh”, like an actuator sound).

And to reiterate, it makes the sound when I’m not physically pushing the pedal (when the adaptive cruise brakes, it does it to).

And to answer your question, no, I haven’t found out what it is. It’s not better or worse with 5,000 miles now, and I guess I have learned to ignore it. I refuse to take it in to the dealer… I don’t want this fixed and then have three other issues.
