I don't watch them a lot, but I think it's a fairly good and succinct way to get a feel for how two vehicles compare in performance. I'm not sure this particular one makes a lot of sense, as I doubt there are very many people cross-shopping these two, but at least it gives people an idea of how they differ in performance.

ICE needs some technological advances to keep up

Mod motors are now decade(s) old tech

There just needs to be some kind of new breakthrough
. Because at this point we’re paying significantly more money for inferior performance.

hopefully the ZR1 trickles down and we’re all in TT FPC’s

I don't even think the ZR1 is the template here, that's way too overkill. Look at the e-ray and other AWD hybrid ICE sports cars. Those are more competitive because the energy dispersing is less to each (hybrid awd tech), energy loss is less, and all the wheels are moving which helps with grip. The E-Ray, AMG One, 2nd gen NSX, Audi R8 are all cars that would probably smoke a good amount of EVs. The rumored Zora is basically gonna be the e-ray with the twin turbo zr1 engine, so that will probably be one of the fastest production cars to ever exist

Would have expected the Performance model of the Mach E to run a little better than that....second run was sad.

One wakes and the other falls off at warm-up.

A lot of their comparisons don't make sense lol. I guess they just run whatever they have access to at the time
Making sense is different for anybody.
Speeking about cars, there are so many choices, prices, types and looks, that making sense comparing cars varies from one to one.
I totally understand why they compared these two and I also can understand many of their other video's too.

Sometimes they compare cars because they share the same platform.
Sometimes they compare cars that share the same price.
Sometimes they compare cars that share the same weight.
Sometimes they compare cars that share the same type.
Sometimes they compare cars that share the same horse power. And so on..
And on top of that you can even combine al the things they share to compare it that way.

In this case they cars share the same horse power, the same Mustang branding, and they are both performance focused.

We have to forget about Formula 1 or other racing events where cars only can compete with each other if they meet exact the same specs.

These type of comparisons are not made for that.
These comparisons are made for simple humans like us buying cars and have a totally different way when it comes to comparing vehicles with each other.

For example.

I live in Europe. My country hates V8's, so they tax the car thrice the MSRP to make V8's more expensive. On top of that 1 Gallon of gasoline costs 8.90.

But you still want a performance car. So you are looking at other cars that in this case cost the same as the Mustang. And that can be an Audi RS E-Tron with 925 hp.

If we are going to compare the Audi RS e-tron, which is fully electric and also has double the horsepower, people would say exactly the same as some of you guys, that this comparison does not make sense.

It does make sense, but not for you. Because in the case of the European guy who has a budget, this is a logical way of comparing stuff.

They cost almost the same but;
- The Audi has way more hp and is way faster
- The Audi is more luxorious
- The Audi is cheaper when it comes to fueling/charging

So people want to see if the Audi for this example has enough advantages to make the decision and jump over to electric vehicles. Many people don't like electric vehicles but the rules of their country sometimes forces them to do so, so there are a lot of people who in that case look for reasons and other advantages to buy an electric car.

I don’t get the Dark Horse vs. the Mach E GT...
IMO there’s a good reason for that. I personally see nothing to be gained by comparing a straight ICE car to an EV. But then again, I’m pretty much a closed-minded hard liner so there’s that.

Agreed. Might as well do a business jet vs. a golf cart. But hey, I’m pretty sure the point isn’t to educate but to earn clicks and views.

I was being sarcastic; harkening back to the long, long, long, long running D/H vs. GT thread.
Got a link by chance? I remember such threads but never thought of them as epic.

I'd like to the the Mach E with a 5.0 engine. I doubt it would handle like a race car in the city, and would just be a nice Sports SUV that you could take the family out in. Even use for camping. Why do you think the Japanese built sporty 4-door sedans. People who were teens in the seventies and eighties grew up, had babies, yet still loved the sporty vehicles they grew up with. But for me the electric vehicle won't do. Many car magazine articles addressed this topic in the eighties. This is why you could get a Honda 4-door with a manual transmission. You could head to the store with kids in child seats and keep them happy playing race car driver spinning wheels, and doing light burnouts. Now these same kids are purchasing all types of sports cars, as and us who were teens in the seventies are returning to Mustangs. You go to the store and see a new American muscle car, dude comes out and he's in his 60s - 70s.
