you said the 5.0 was too big for anything but a truck. You owned yourself.

put. The shovel. Down.

hyrbrid doesn’t make the engine bigger.
I said the HYBRID V8 was too big for anything other than a truck - again you misread and misquote. You are the one with the shovel!

Hybrid makes the whole drivetrain bigger - you know that surely?

is it smaller than a mustang?

“They combined the Z06 body with the 495-horsepower LT2 V-8 and a small 1.9-kilowatt-hour battery to power the front axle. That created the E-Ray, an all-wheel-drive hybrid Corvette”

Just watched a video of Jim Farley from two days ago where he was asked about the future of Mustang, and he said Ford wouldn't be Ford without the Mustang and it will always have a V8 as long as they're legally allowed to produce them.

👌🏻

'Ford will likely pursue the same path.'

You said - doesn't take a genius to work that out when they are already doing it.

I didn't say ICE is dead at Ford - plenty of Ford vehicles with ICE (not V8). I did say the V8 is legacy now and not just at Ford. That is not my opinion, that is what is happening in most places. I am not cheering that just pointing out the reality. For some reason me pointing out what is happening in the world somehow makes me anti V8 - which is very odd as I drive a Mustang.

I am very specific in my language but you miss crucial bits.

And STILL you ignore that NO car makers are going down the route you opine - Can only mean one thing, you know you are wrong!
Pretty sure you said the v8 is dead in the “save the mustang” thread. But maybe it was bikeman. Hard to tell you two apart.

no im not ignoring anything. You are the one who took my idea and said it wasn’t new bevause ford patented it. So… I think you should take my shovel advice.

and bmw is already reinvesting in ICE and putting their eggs in all of the baskets. Ford will do the same. GM is investing in a new v8 lineup. It would be suicide for ford to not do the same. GM the current coyote foundation has worked well since 2011 but it’s time to take another leap forward with the v8. Eco/power boost would be great.

he said this a while ago. It’s been repeated msny times. Ford even has a line in the website talking about keeping the v8 alive. But some of these “fans” keep shouting doom and gloom into the universe hoping to “manifest” it or some weird jive like that.

He’s not going to be with Ford for much longer.

good news is the 2026 SHELBY GT500 IS coming !!!
And there is a new performance engine being developed, Ford isn’t done with ICE yet.

That’s something I’ve been waiting for!
agreed. The s650 generation needs a shot in the arm - FROM FORD. None of this “factory” RTR business.

just give us an honest to goodness awesome GT500/COBRA tier car that we all can buy.

the 2020 GT500 was perfection. Take that kind of effort and upgrade it for 2026. A twin turbo v8 would be a great start.

Twin Turbo V8 screams modern Terminator for sure.

I kinda feel bad for Vaughn after seeing him so excited for the car though. It’s kind of in a weird spot.

Quotre from @Q6543 " ....very little money, if any will go to future ICE development." ..... Really? .....and just this week three Scandinavian countries told EV owners to not plug their crappy little EVs into the electrical grid as electrical grids couldn't handle them AND today at the Munich summit it was noted that all of the green programs of Euro countries COMBINED made less than a 1.2% difference to climate change as China, India, Africa and South America are not on board. Oh, BTW add the USA to that. As if all of that wasn't enough the new AI electrical requirements will relegate EVs to the back burner (of a gas stove that is). @Q6543 ..... not sure what you are "an insider" of but maybe you should get out a bit more? BTW what % of the world's vehicles are ICE? Like 99.9% Just sayin'

Yep. Some people pretending to not notice new ICE investments globally.

Excellent point about ai. It’s the big thing now. Those data centers won’t play nice with consumption competition.

Could you provide a link / evidence for the bits in bold please.

Not sure why EV's are 'crappy and little' when clearly they are not? Just because you don't like them doesn't make them either of those things.

Not sure where you get your 99.9% figure from when 17 million (20%) of ALL new vehicles sold were EV's last year alone? A mathematical impossibility I suspect. I have found figures saying 1,640 million cars in the world of which 60+ million are now EV, rising by over 20 million per year. That makes the current figure 3.7% EV? Do you agree?

There is little point having a rant based on nothing but fairy stories!

Oh and US lack of investment in electricity infrastructure is indeed a big problem as you say. Your 'cheap' energy comes at a cost down the line. Fortunately other countries think ahead rather better than the US.

The title of this topic is interesting, in that Ford has decreased the production of the eMustang, and the last I heard, the Lightning has ceased production. Even Tesla, the queen of the EV market, has 50,000+ sitting on the ground, unsold! If you consider the TV ads featuring EVs, rather than ICE models, Kia/Hyundai, Volvo, BMW, MB, VW, Porsche, et. al. are all doing their best to sell what they've already made.

Hybrids are selling, and perhaps that is good. For light-duty use, they make sense. For over the road, not so much. EVs over the road? FORGETABOUTIT!
