Shoutout to fablighting, followed the steps outlined in your previous post on this thread and everything worked great! I was worried about using FORSCAN but it wasnt that bad.

The paddle shifters were the main thing I was missing as well on my ecoboost, now thats fixed.

Here's a photo of how my instrument cluster is now, and where the gears are displayed. Small gear icon next to the "M" icon at the bottom, as well as a larger gear icon on the left opposite the speedometer. Both numbers display when the car is in "D" or "M."

Here are all of the steps that I took to get a 101A non-HPP EcoBoost to work with paddle shifters.

- Install new steering wheel (I went with Dark Horse for the black trim, but any GT wheel with paddles should work). Wiring harnesses are the same with the exception of the heated steering wheel option, which was not available on my car. There are a few YouTube videos on this for step-by-step instructions if you need it.
- Enable Select Shift in FORScan (PCM 7E0-03-01 xxxx xxxx x*--) change 1 to a 2. This will make the "L" selection on your gear shifter behave like "M" should but will not change it on your instrument cluster
- Enable Gear Select SST in FORScan (IPC 720-02-01 *xxx xxxx xx--) change 0 to a 4. This is what changed the "L" on my instrument cluster to "M" to actually show gears.
- Enable Continuous Gear Display in FORScan (IPC 720-12-01 xx*x xxxx xx--) change C to E or just use "easy mode" for this swap.

And that's it. Made a few other changes while I had FORScan connected and will likely continue to tweak things as I dig a little deeper into Livnitup's spreadsheet, but that's all that was required to get paddle shifters working which was one of the main features I was missing from my S550.
Do you have a link to any of those YouTube videos? I've tried searching but have not found anything.

For those who have added paddle shifters: how are they to use?
I heard that it's very herky-jerky when shifting, and laggy. I can't imagine it's any different than on a HPP Ecoboost, and I can't imagine it's any worse than on a GT, since it's the same transmission after all.

Was it a worthwhile upgrade?

It depends of how you drive, there' s a software logic even when in M mode. After a while you'll learn how the shift works and you'll get accustomed to have it doing what you want (not what it wants). It doesn't lag with a spirited drive (the software will tune for a fast change), but it does its own things if you try to change the gears "randomly" while driving normally (hence you need to learn how it react), but in this scenario you better drive in "D".

Initially I was driving only in "D" (it's my first AT car), then I get used of the "M" and I'm enjoying it a lot. The only thing is: my fuel consumption skyrocketed :D ...coz i tend to drive at higher constant RPMs now.

I also have a 101a and have enabled the Gear Select SST and Continuous Gear Display features. While in Drive (D), the gear indicators on my dashboard function as shown in your picture. However, when I switch to Manual (M) mode, the gear indicators on the dashboard disappear. Does this occur with your vehicle as well? Additionally, I noticed that Park (P), Reverse (R), and Neutral (N) do not display on the dashboard either.

Does your instrument cluster still show “L” or did you change it so it shows “M”?

I changed it to show M.
That’s unusual then.

Mine would not show gears until I changed it to “M” and then everything displayed properly. “P” “R” and “N” all still show up on the instrument cluster.

Did you change everything at once, or one at a time? Curious about which step in the process caused your PRN to all stop showing up.
