My guess is Ford will eat the costs for the near future, but I can guarantee you if it remains 25% more expensive to make in Canada, they will not be made in Canada anymore lol They may even move production to the US and create jobs for Americans if the US doesn't get better terms from Canada.

It's almost like that's the point 🤪
The trouble is for Ford that would be a very expensive move. Loss of Canadian subsidies (which may go anyway now) plus the cost of moving facilities will make that a tough call. Simpler just to put the car price up.

You know, I really miss driving gutted cars that were just loud and fun with no worries.

I would trade in my car today for: a 2500-3000 lb 2 seat front mid engine coupe. Coyote scaled down to 2.5-3.5L with 7500 rpm redline, forged rotating assembly, all made domestically. Linear throttle without the delayed response of electric throttle body. 10r80 or a clean sheet 4-speed with Gear Vendors overdrive. Naturally aspirated base model, GT is supercharged with Darton sleeves. No trunk carpet. No A/C. No interior sound deadener. Flat aluminum dash panel with tach, speedometer, oil pressure, oil temperature, water temperature, transmission temperature (if auto), volts. No radio. Manual locks, windows and seats. Thinner, plastic rim steering wheel. Longtube headers, 12" long or so glasspack mufflers. Not necessarily good for anything, just a whole lotta fun. Rear end that can be regeared in a few minutes (quick change, go from drag racing back to highway gears). Built-in jacking rails. Maybe have the option of IRS or parallel 4-link solid axle by just swapping rear subframe with quick disconnects on the brakes.

I daily drove stripped out cars and loved it, think a lot of people would if they tried it. I need another.
Those days are long gone.

Go and buy a classic car as that is what you clearly want!

Those days are gone. But how long will the present hold up for? Soon we'll be driving cars like Fred Flintstone's. All this tech can't hold up forever. I just may sell my New Fangled GT and get me a 90s ugly old Highway P-trol Mustang. Has everything I need. Slap a new engine in and that's that.

Sounds like an enthusiast's dream and a daily driver's nightmare. That said, a smaller NA V8 intrigues me even if it were to "only" make EcoBoost figures.

the 5.0 is small enough already. No Points magnetic breakerless, manual choke street rod, with skeleton crew creature comforts s650 enthusiast special edition.

The tech won't go anywhere, we're going full Fifth Element - "you have 1 point left on your license".

Factory five and superformance make really nice classic cobra replicas that you can fit with coyotes, aluminator or even the 7.3 pushrod engines.
Classic cars are already out there but If Ford started doing that with first gen or even fox replicas it could be more achievable(cheaper) than a new mustang for many more consumers.

It's Ok. I have a perpetual get out of jail card. Last until the day I die. Even if the Ecoboost is the only Mustang left. It's coming real soon. The next "Working Man's" sports/muscle car.

I heard years ago a company wanted to purchase the rights to produce Police Interceptor Mustangs for the LE usage. This was around the time Mustangs became unusable for Law Enforcement use because all the upgraded equipment and redesign if their interiors. LE agencies could not have new police equipment redesigned for the new model. This is what I heard years ago.
