The problem with EV is the misunderstanding of the fact that the Lithium batteries are not really recyclable. Only the steel framework of the batteries are recycled. There is nothing they can do with the spent Lithium. They just drop it in an abandoned mineshaft like nuclear waste.
There is no way to reenergize the lithium because it would blow up. Chemistry folks, it is in the same column of other unstable elements like sodium.

1. Select any Mustang.
2. Ctrl+S to save the Mustang.

Simple as that. 😁

...I wish I had an actual answer. As much as I want a GT or V6/V8 sedan, I can't justify myself buying either one right now.

Part of saving the Mustang is also how you understand how to get the best price to move the inventory, that is all Ford and the dealers want to see is moving inventory. There is a lot of profit built into the MSRP......
Even if they dropped the price $20k on a loaded GT Premium, which of course they won't, sales will never grow to the point of the car be self sustaining. Selling more cars will not save the Mustang. There are way too many other forces in play that will eventually take our Mustang away.

We are not that far off from seeing a lithium repacement. 500 mile range with just a few minutes to recharge are closer than you think.

Well I am not in a position to do any more Mustangs anyway. At 65 this year, my two are enough to last me until I am no longer able to drive.

I'm going to be 73 in a couple of months and this will most likely be my last new Mustang. I just cannot justify a S650 at this point. I'm thinking of possibly going vintage, '69/'70. We'll see.

For what it is worth, I like my 2019 Bullitt more than my Dark Horse, but that for now might just be time in the driver's seat. But I feel like the Bullitt is more responsive to the wheel than the Dark Horse.

why don't you just sell it and buy something you like better. You can't take it with you. You are old enough (like me) not to have to settle, on anything

Wow, you are certainly in a very small minority. But I don’t disagree. I’ll need to see it first. 👍
I understand why you would think that, but I firmly believe most car enthusiasts of given the option between the mustang becoming an EV, or ceasing to exist, they would chose for it to become an EV. If we're gonna live in a world full of EVs, I'd rather have mustangs and Camaro EVs instead of just a bunch of trucks driving around. Not all, but a lot of the younger folks such as myself are far more receptive to EVs than older generations tend to be. We just want cool, but affordable cars, what powers it doesn't really matter if it looks awesome and doesn't destroy our bank accounts.

I don't know if you guys saw it, I believe the story came out today, where GM is talking about being back the Camaro as a far more affordable EV, more affordable than the 6th Gen Camaro. It would apparently be something that focused more on style and fun rather than raw performance numbers, which is exactly the sort of thing we need to see right now as car enthusiasts.

It's not super economically feasible to offer a smaller gas powered sports coupe right now, but offering a full sized mustang with a V8, and a more affordable EV coupe, I can see that working if they nail the execution.

I have my own opinion on how EV's are America's way of outsourcing pollution while claiming to be green... But, the reality of the V8 is a dying dream.

Maybe, Ford can devise a plug-in hybrid mustang, but I doubt they'd keep the V8 in that scenario. Probably be lucky to get a 6 cylinder engine for it...

nope. I don't buy it. The new Charger EV is faster than all the outgoing models (except the Hellcat) but the majority of us Mopar lovers won't even look at it. It's just an appliance, even though faster than the RT's and Scat Packs. The upcoming Banshee or whatever the top of the line model coming out next year will be faster than the Hellcats. I don't think even 5% of the faithfull will even care to drive one, much less buy one. Don't care how fast it is. Not the same without the sound and smells of a badass V8. Poll the users here. How many will buy an EV Mustang if there is no more ICE? count me OUT.

I also still have the 66 convertible and the other Mustangs as well, 5 in total. So I am set !

Ford has faced gloom and doom predictions before. Look at the bad years that followed the 1970 model. While it was too late to downsize the 71-73 models, The 1974 Mustang II was one of the top selling Mustangs of all time. And that was the only year that a V8 was not offered. Despite the problems over the years, it has endured. The question is what sacrifices must be endured to make it happen, but eventually it will be developed into either a better car or nobody will be driving on roads anymore.
