No more owners booklets/manuals?

The fact that the manuals are available online and in the infotainment system is great. I can sit on my laptop and search to my heart’s content. I hated flipping through paper manuals because it was sometimes difficult to find exactly what you wanted. You usually found it, but it sometimes took quite a while. Now I can find things in seconds. There is a thing called the index.
What annoys me about online anything is the menus, sub menus etc etc. and having to go back through them to find the next item you want.
It's probably an age thing.
I do have to admit that the searchable workshop manual for my bike was great.
Online manuals for my last three cars, not so much.

The index and table of contents are good as long as you know what they call the thing or thing-a-ma jig. If not you're flipping back and forth trying different options. At least online you know you're right or wrong in a couple of seconds. Glenn

I was bummed at first not having the paper manual booklets because I like to sit on my couch the night after buying a new vehicle and read through the manuals. I guess I’m one of the elder Millenials that still like holding a physical book instead of a digital copy lol.

one good thing I do see about moving to a web based manual is that you can filter by your VIN so that the manual shows you information based on the equipment your car has. One of the features that caught my eye was Intelligent Speed Control and Traffic Sign Recognition. When I filtered by my VIN that feature was not listed. Apparently it’s only for 401A cars. Pretty neat.

The result is seat height. Type in heat seat gets you heat shields. If the search engine was powered by Google, either would get you what you were looking for. Yes, I know, 'Heated Seat' should have been the correct entry, but give me a brake, break! It appears that it needs the EXACT phrase or the item doesn't come up. The only explanation I can think of, is that it is yet another example of lawyerizing everything!

Well any search engine is only as good as what you type. Typing "heat seat" isn't going to get you anywhere. Stop and think about it. Maybe try climate controls or ventilated seats next time.

Mine is a 401A, and yes, the intelligent speed control and traffic sign recognition is great. No matter where I drive, a quick glance tells me the speed limit where I am traveling. It is great! The speed control is such a help in heavy traffic because if traffic starts to slow, my vehicle slows automatically to maintain the distance I have set between vehicles. I don't have to step on the brake and turn off the speed control. It is so smooth you sometimes don't realize it has happened, and all of a sudden, you realize you're traveling at 50 instead of 75! I agree and that was the point I was trying to make. I have the Hallmark app for keeping track of and marking the movies we have already watched, 1,142 movies so far and if you make a typo in any part of the title it won't find it but may give you a list of movies you don't want. Glenn
