Congrats.

Just like there is no such thing as a 1964.5 Mustang, there is no such thing as a 2024.5 Mustang. It's a 2024 Mustang.

Quick, you had better get onto Ford and let them know they don't know what they are talking about. Just because they updated some features, what right do they have to call it whatever they like. The hide of them.

You do realise you are interfering in the Australian forum, don't you?

Hi Roadpilot - many thanks for your comment.

As far as the VIN is concerned, you are 100% correct: it has the "R" for a 2024 build. However, on the Ford Australia official website they were definitely advertising 2024 and 2024.50 MY Mustangs. These pages are no longer available (now they refer to 2025), but the brochure I received from the dealer in June, definitely states 2024/2024.50 MY. I'll attach a copy FYI. Moreover, when we were talking to the finance guy in the dealership on Friday, he couldn't find our car (NSC order number: C5FM) in "the system" until he changed the MY from 2024 to 2024.50. The dealer's tax invoice reflects this, stating (literally) it's a "New Ford Mustang 2024.50 Fastback Dark Horse"

Cheers

Congrats OzzieRoss - My DH is probably about 2 months away and I'm also in Perth.

Where are you taking yours for PPF and what areas are you doing? I have mine booked in at Madinc as soon as it arrives.

Hi bfets - ours is going to MADinc as well. They will be doing a full, "stealth" PPF wrap (all areas). After a bit of research, we were going to go with Fortified Protections. I think they would do a very good job but friends who are in the car industry recommended MADinc. They are quite a bit more expensive, but in the end we decided to spend the extra dough for our peace of mind. Watch this space!

Awesome. Hopefully you are happy. They will be pro's on the S650's by the time mine gets to them.

Let us know how you go and please share some photos!

Try telling that to Ford. Overseas they list the partial model year on their website in the online store (go look at the Ford uk store, there are both 2024 and 2024.5 mustangs for sale), vehicle pages, it’s listed on the order sheet and when the dealer looks up the order in the Ford system it’s right there.

Just because it doesn’t exist in the USA does not mean that it doesn’t exist in the rest of the world.

Edit - Added screenshot of ford uk website incl highlighted model years

In some countries (e.g. Turkiye) auto companies are not allowed to sell/label the cars of the upcoming year, before the new year physically starts.
To be more clear, you cannot sell car labeled as 2025 model before 1st January 2025 in Turkiye.
There might be a similar case for Australia or other countries as well... Just guessing...

Hi canefendy - many thanks for that insightful comment! I think that's a very sensible rule in Turkey as these things can get very confusing and, rightfully or wrongfully, a vehicle's MY, manufacturing calendar year, and year of first registration do affect their value later in life.

Anyway, such a rule does not exist in Australia. At least not that I am aware of.

Cheers

lol 100% trolling
Show me the title and prove me wrong.

My company built a major component in your car - and every S550 and S650 Mustang. I think I would know a little about model years.

P.S. - I've provided FAR, FAR more assistance and info to other members of this forum than you have, so if I'm a troll, what does that say about you and your whopping 75 posts? 😉
