You guys are missing the next page...

"For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer. "

They really should use a better example than ‘towing a trailer’ with a mustang - know your audience. However, sound more like a cya for insurance.

Well, whether or not putting higher octane gas is better for parts wear and tear doesn’t matter. It is a fact though, that the higher the octane the cleaner the fuel. If some people want to put in 87, let them. If some people want to pay extra and put in 93, let them. Everyone is different and everyone has different priorities. There is no right or wrong and this topic is debated a lot.

It’s not gonna spin a rod bearing instantly.
It’s cumulative over mileage and rpm

talk to me when the 87 octane car has a rod knock at 130k miles and I’m going 200k plus.
Are you serious? The Coyote has been around since 2011. I'm thinking there are a few folks who have car with way over 130K miles. And most likely a few with 200k+. You are inventing a problem that doesn't exist. Do whatever you want but let others do what they want without this unfounded thesis.

I haven't bought <93 since 2019. I take a moment to look around the Costco refueling line of 80+ cars and press that button like a BOSS!
Careful with Costco gas. My wife had used it for years in our old FJ cruiser. After some time, the fuel pump float system got gummed up and the fuel tank would not register below 1/4 tank. After several tankful's of Chevron with Techron 91. The sending unit freed itself and now I have an accurate fuel gauge again. As a result, I always use Chevron.

Any gas station of any brand, at any time, can get a batch of bad fuel. Even Chevron. Even a Top Tier brand. It appears that happened to you. There’s no reason to be careful.

By the way did you go back to Costco to discuss with them?
