I have had both kits and here is my experience.

There really is no weirdness with the Procharger, you hear this a lot but once you drive one there really is not that much of a different between the two. Except the initial hit.

Prochargers do sound unique, more of a bad belt on an old car. I even had BADBELT as my plate on my Procharger Mustang. The Big Red Race Valve really makes them stand out though and I will agree when equipped with it, it does sound better than the Whipple IMO.

You're not really going to lose much body stiffness removing the strut bar when we have the 2 beefy strut to firewall mounts. IMO this is a non-issue and talked about throughout the previous years.

This is not really true. As I have said the initial hit might be different, but both will make enough power that traction can be an issue in the first few gears. You will never feel there is nothing down low with a Procharger, atleast I didn't.

You will most likely get the same response from Whipple about headers. I have in the past. Does it mean you can't run them, no. They are just not tunes for them.
As far as telling you not to run a catback then you spoke to someone that doesn't know what they are talking about.

IMO Whipple still is on top for me, you will not get a better tuned FI kit, with great customer service.
So you think it’s ok to tune long tubes with no cats and a procharger? I like the sound more from that and wanna go that way but little freaked out to buy if it’s gonna be an issue….

So after going ahead and buy the pro charger…. I get a form from American muscle to send to procharger and the top of the form says exhaust modifications will not work and will need a tune no exception so not I’m confused….. should I return? Or keep it and hope for a tune?

I would assume you would be just fine. A lot of the Whipple guys are using headers with the Whipple tune. Again, headers just help air exit your engine a little better than stock...

@ProChargerTECH might be able to answer but I also assume they don't encourage it as emissions etc is a complicated subject

We asked for a procharger tech to look at this form to see but we haven’t got anything in a few days, lots of people and a few mechanics down here said it should be fine but it’s the should be fine that scares me a lil haha. Imma fill the form out and out I have long tubes and there catless and the double h pipe and that’s it lol and see what they say

I’ve never heard this with the whipples and I’d assume it’s all based off the same Ford tune. I’d call Whipple and see what they say about LTs if you were to buy their kit. I believe there is a difference in their stage 1 and stage 2 kits. (Stage 1 being CARB) compliant, makes me wonder if PC is only CARB compliant.

it would be great if the ProCharger representation on this forum would jump in. @ProChargerTECH. Their lack of information is starting to make me question my purchase.

@beefcake have you heard anything about this from PC?

Same, I’m almost thinking I’ll refund my order but trying to hold out hope….

all manufacturers pretty much say that the "complete" kits are designed for "stock cars", that implies headers.

a coyote has built in widebands, and does not required tuning for headers.

we have probalby hundreds of customers on "complete" kits from whipple, procharger, vortech, paxton, roush, vmp, etc.. with headers on them, ranging from high flow catted, to gesi / eco / green catted to compeition only.

you may get a "check engine light" from the headers in any form, but that is not something that has to do with the tune, most people just add a set of defoulers for the check engine light.

most of the tuning can compensate up to 30% of fueling. our 2022 f150 for example we originally had lth gesi catted then went to competition only, between the tune, the new headers ,then the comp headers, not one thing was changed.

our 2024 mustang, same thing, it even crosses platforms, our 2023 challenger, same thing, added headers, 0 adjustment for tune.

so, if your doing a supercharger on the "oe tune" from the mfg, simply list exhaust as stock. No matter if whipple , procharger, or anyone else that comes out with a kit before custom tuning is available

@beefcake this is awesome! I appreciate you adding some context in this area.

I have a couple of questions for you that know. Which one is the easiest install, turbo or Super charger kit? And second what about fuel mileage supercharger vs. turbo ? The reason I ask. I have a co-worker who had a GT 500 and he traded it because he said he couldn’t keep gas in it. Even just easing around .

If you’re thinking about fuel mileage at all, stay N/A.

You need unlimited fuel budget, plus additives or E30

Supercharger is a way easier install

Gas mileage remains about the same with either unless you floor it, and then it will literally get half the mileage.

if you just cruise around the mileage won't be much less. I can still get over 20mpg in mine.

Thanks . I just know my co-worker loved the 500 but said gas mileage was terrible. He went back to a corvette. Been thinking of supercharger install but dang they are expensive. I can do the work , I was a senior master ford tech for 35 + years. But that don’t make the kit any cheaper . Wouldno t it be nice to buy a kit for 3-4 grand. Seem like that is what they cost back in the 90’s IDK
