I’ll take the word of a fellow/ former scout. I will grant your experience is sub par, and Ford does have a memo acknowledging as much. So there are sync 4 users out there with these issues.

that said it’s not the majority or even a large majority. None of this is to minimize your problems here.

I do think sync is pretty intuitive compared to other systems out there. That’s not to say I won’t find a better one, just that I think right now it’s a pretty good implementation…. When it works reliably

I have a little over 10000 miles on my car, I haven't had all these issues. I think its connectivity issues. Might be because I live on a lake with a 5G tower across from me less than an 1/8 of a mile. Seems like I get updates before many do. OTA update problem.

- My Color options on gauges or ambient lightning
- Shift Points
Add: radio station channel settings and Android disconnects (on one occasion, my phone was removed from the system).

Happens inconsistently and infrequently, e.g., after random stops (gas stations, grocery, etc) and every once in a while after sitting overnight in my garage). It has happened after some OTA updates--the most recent occurrence followed the engine power management update.

Batt voltage is routinely 12.5 in the mornings (14 to 14.5 while driving). It's my daily, so rarely does it sit for longer than an evening. However, it will over these next few days, so I'll check.

**Edit 26 Aug 24: car Sat from Saturday until 1800 Monday. Display indicated battery was at 11.5 (and I could have sworn I caught the flash of a low battery message that disappeared when I clicked out of the standard splash screens that appear when I turn the car on but don't start it). Never seen that low a reading until after the most recent OTA power management update. So, I put my voltmeter on the batt which read 12.5. No settings were disturbed (well, not until I disconnected the batt). I'll probably check again in the morning. **

Agree with @cosmo73. Having owned BMWs, Audis, Nissans, etc, I've never experienced these issues with any other manufacture's info systems. I realize no system is perfect out of the gate. One can at least hope Ford is addressing what appears to be some persistent (rather annoying) bugs.

the last update, ABS I think, messed with my settings. The previous one prior to the Cobra gauges screwed up Car Play and navigation both built in an iPhone. No biggie for me. Reset or input my settings again. I'm always fiddling with settings anyway so it's no big deal to me. I learn something new each time I fiddle !

Scouts honor, I have owned BMW, Audi, Dodge, GM and never had to reset the infotainment system nor had my settings magically disappear. Never had no sound, blank screen or Car Play connectivity issues. That is what these manufacturers systems do better. They work consistently EVERY time you start the car. Period.

With Ford, this happens every single week. I’ve had all updates and the dealer also reloaded everything.
My wife’s 2023 BMW X3 is much more annoying with its infotainment glitches than my Mustang, even with my settings occasionally getting reset on My Mustang. Likewise her Subaru Outback was frequently unable to connect to a phone for CarPlay. I’m not making excuses for Ford, because they should fix their glitches, but they are far from the only manufacturer with infotainment system problems.

No and most do not.
You are lucky to not have these issues. I have had problems with my colors & my drive modes not staying set and android auto disconnecting everyday when I drive by a certain area. I love my car but @Ford Motor Company should do better!!

Seems every time Ford does an update another issue arises but it never gets fixed.

<knock wood> I’ve had my ’17 Rap for 7.5 years now and since upgrading to sync 3 from sync 2... (that was unstable ; if you guys don’t like 4, be glad you didn’t have to work with sync 2 ) she hasn’t had an issue... Though, there was this one time I couldn’t start the truck.

I was filling up and a fire truck pulled in behind me at a kind of remote fuel stop near Converse Texas. I finished up, got in the truck to leave. No key detected. ... The f***? cycled the ignition, nothing. after a few seconds of disbelief I pulled the cup holder slot and had to start the truck via the reader slot. Key and truck worked fine once I was away from the fire truck.

Are you regularly passing by some weird EMF location daily?

My settings never reset, but that's probably because I'm aware that user profiles are bugged along with associating FOBs with a user profile. If you delete all user profiles and FOB associations you'll probably be bug free too until Ford decides to fix that feature, if ever. :)

my colors switched on me after a rear, yellow back to dark blue which is almost like black, leaving me with close to black on black

I was just noticing that. Mine recently started reverting to the "Fox Body" gauges. Seemed nothing I could do would make the default "by drive mode" stick. I tried deleting and recreating a personal profile and every time I tried, the moment I pressed the memory 1 button, it would instantly go back to the "fox body" gauges. I mean its sort of nostalgic as I had one 39 years ago, maybe kinda cool to look at once in a while, but I don't want to look at it all the time.

Does anyone know if Ford is actually looking into why our settings are constantly reset when you start and stop the vehicle. Just curious if there's something actually wrong with my vehicle or is this a common issue for every owner.

Every time I get a new update I think that maybe they fixed the issue but even after the latest ABS update I'm still experiencing the same thing.

What's frustrating is that I could go maybe three or four complete ignition on ignition off cycles and everything would be great but then I go to get in the car the next time and my gauge cluster would be set to something random or the shift indicator RPM would reset to 4000. The newest thing after the update I'm seeing is that the shift indicator light mode is randomly flipped toggled to the off position.

Seriously though how hard is it to save a setting once you set it. I understand that there are some limitations in the system as far as starting up in track mode etc that's not what I'm referring to.

I used to also see this with the My color settings where you would go to set your colors up and then randomly they would be set back to some default values thankfully I haven't seen that in quite a while
The My Color setting use to do the same thing.
I would set the My Colors like I wanted and they would change & I would have to reset them.
Now they stay where I set them.
I didn’t do anything special.
It just works like it’s supposed to?

Oh! And today, at lunch, my Android Auto will not connect wirelessly at all. I have restarted the phone and car. I also unpaired & re-paired the phone. Sheesh!
